High School: Ayers was a four-year letterwinner at local Cookeville High School, playing guard for head coach Josh Heard… as a senior, was named to the All-District First Team, All-District Defensive Team, All-Region Tournament Team, and TSSAA 4A State All-Tournament Team… also earned District Tournament MVP and Region Tournament MVP honors and was a BCAT All-Star Game selection… earned All-District First Team honors twice during his career and was the team’s Freshman of the Year… led CHS to the TSSAA 4A regular season title, a district championship, region crown, and sub-state boat, as well as a runner-up finish at the state tournament… averaged 13 points, five rebounds, and five assists as a senior.
