2022-23 (Junior): Wood took part in 22 of Tech’s 33 games during the season, making eight starts while averaging 20.2 minutes per game… averaged 6.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game… shot 44.3 percent from the field and 68.1 percent from the free-throw line… erupted for a career-high 24 points on 8-for-15 shooting and 8-for-10 efficiency at the charity stripe in the OVC Tournament title game against Southeast Missouri (Mar. 4)… sunk a buzzer-beating jumper to send the championship game against the Redhawks to overtime after the shot was ruled a game-winning triple, reviewed, and ruled a two with his foot barely on the line… added seven rebounds in the contest… hauled in a season-high nine boards to go along with 10 points, five assists, and two steals at UT Martin (Jan. 7)… scored 12 points with three rebounds and a season-high three blocks at Tennessee State (Feb. 11) before suffering an upper-body injury that forced him to miss the final four regular season contests… dished out five helpers against SIUE (Jan. 26)… picked up three steals in three games… scored in double figures four times during the year… corralled five or more rebounds seven times.

2020-21 (Sophomore – Jacksonville): Wood played in the first seven of the games of the season, making one start and averaging 22.1 minutes per contest before entering the transfer portal… averaged 12.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 0.7 steals per game… shot 44.6 percent from the field and 73.7 percent from the free-throw line… scored a season-high 18 points twice, at Georgia (Dec. 4) on 7-for-14 shooting, and again in his first career start, against Florida National (Dec. 9) on 8-for-13 shooting… also corralled a season-best 12 rebounds and four dimes against Florida National, recording his first career double-double… posted season-high marks of four assists and three steals against Presbyterian (Dec. 2)… scored in double figures in five of his seven games, including four contests with 15+ points… a mid-year addition to the Tech squad, sat out the spring semester due to NCAA transfer rules.

2019-20 (R-Freshman – Jacksonville): Wood appeared in each of his team’s 32 games on the year, playing 15.6 minutes of action per game… averaged 6.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.6 steals per game… shot 50.0 percent from the field and 56.5 percent from the charity stripe… ranked second on the team in field goal percentage and second in offensive rebounds with 49… dropped a season-high 27 points in the Dolphins’ season finale at North Florida (Mar. 3), snagging seven rebounds and hitting a season-high 13 free throws on 18 attempts… hauled in a season-best 11 rebounds against Middle Georgia State (Dec. 14)… scored in double figures nine times on the year, including each of the final three games of the season… collected five or more rebounds in seven games… shot an impressive 63.0 percent from the floor over the final three games of the year.

2018-19 (Freshman – Alabama): Wood sat out the 2018-19 season as a redshirt due to injury.

High School: Wood was a four-year letterwinner under head coach Raphael Graves at Sacred Heart Catholic High School… helped lead Sacred Heart to four straight AHSAA 1A State titles, just the fifth program in history to accomplish the feat… named ASWA 1A Player of the Year as a sophomore, junior and senior, beating out current teammate John Pettway for the honor in 2016… finished as the runner-up for the Mr. Basketball Award in 2018… averaged 23.2 points, 12.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game as a senior, leading to ASWA All-State First Team and AL.com Super All-State First Team honors… hit a 15-foot, fall-away jumper at the buzzer to force overtime in the AHSAA 1A state title game in which SHCHS won its fourth consecutive championship… named the tournament’s MVP… represented one of just 12 players in the state to earn an invite to the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game… as a junior, averaged 18.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists on his way to ASWA All-State First Team and AL.com Super All-State First Team accolades… clinched MVP honors in the state tournament after posting 27 points, six rebounds, five steals, four assists and four blocks in the title game… earned an invitation to the Alabama North/South All-Star Game in 2017… during his sophomore season, averaged 20.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.0 blocks per game while racking up three 40-point games… earned ASWA All-State First Team honors and an AL.com Super All-State Second Team nod… claimed tournament MVP honors after dropping 30 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks in the championship contest… collected ASWA All-State First Team and AL.com Super All-State Honorable Mention honors following his freshman campaign… rated a four-star recruit, the No. 1 prospect in the state of Alabama and the 22nd-best shooting guard in the nation by ESPN.

Personal: Son of Alina and Christopher Wood… born November 29, 1998… full name is Diante Wood… older brother, Christian, played basketball at UNLV (2013-15) and is currently a member of the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers.

Academic: Pursuing a second bachelor’s degree in exercise science and physical wellness with a concentration in sports administration… earned his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Tech in December 2022… named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll twice.
