Clay joins rarified air with fourth All-OVC honor, named to Second Team

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech guard Jr. Clay made more history Tuesday afternoon, becoming just the second player in Golden Eagle history to earn his fourth All-Ohio Valley Conference honor.
The Chattanooga native was selected to the All-OVC Second Team for the fourth straight year, joining Stephen Kite as just the program's second player to collect four honors of that magnitude. Clay was also named to the OVC All-Newcomer Team in 2018-19, making both Kite and he the only Tech hoopers to collect five total OVC postseason accolades in their careers.
On the year, Clay led the purple and gold in scoring for the fourth year in-a-row, averaging 13.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Heading into his first OVC Tournament action, he ranks ninth in the league in scoring, seventh in assists, second in steals, ninth in 3-point field goals made per game, and seventh in assist/turnover ratio.
His contributions to the Tech program throughout his career cannot be overlooked, with the four-year guard and three-time captain ranking eighth all-time in scoring, fifth in assists, fourth in steals, sixth in 3-point field goals, tied for fifth in minutes played, 11th in free throws made and seventh in field goals made. This season, Clay became the only Golden Eagle ever to rank in the top-10 on Tech's career charts in scoring, assists, steals, and 3-point field goals made, and sits just six make from distance from joining the top-five in that category as well.
The highly-decorated guard is on pace to become the first player in school history to lead the team in steals four times and just the second to pace the squad in scoring four years, joining all-time scoring leader Earl Wise in that exclusive club. Clay also needs just two points to join Wise as the only two players in Tech history to score 400 points in four different seasons.
This season, Clay finished with the second-longest streak in program history for games with at least one made 3-pointer, connecting from distance at least once in 40 consecutive ball games. One of just four players in program history to record 20 games of scoring in double figures four different seasons, he ranks fourth all-time in double-digit scoring performances with 93 in his career.
