2019 (Freshman): Played in all 12 games in the 2019 season ... Recorded 26 total tackles -- nine solo and 17 assisted -- as he averaged 2.2 stops per game ... had a career-high four stops three times -- 8/31/19 vs. Samford, 9/14/19 vs. Virginia-Wise and 10/12/19 vs. UT Martin ... also recorded three pass breakups.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: One of the top defenders in the Knoxville area, Washington will add another powerful piece in the Golden Eagles’ linebacker corps. This season, Washington recorded 127,  total tackles – 90 solo – and 23 for-loss. He also had nine sacks, three interceptions, defended 10 passes and forced three fumbles for a Knoxville Central program that also produced Tech linebacker Josh Poplar. Washington ended his career with 244 total tackles, five interceptions and four forced fumbles. In the TSSAA Class 5A State Championship, he recorded seven tackles – three solo and two for-loss – and a pass breakup in the 14-9 win over Henry County. Washington was also a selection for the TACA All-Star Game.
 
PERSONAL: The son of Fred and Zinia Washington ... born March 9, 2000 ... brother, Cedric, played football at Lindsey Wilson College and is currently on the Ohio Dominican roster.
 
ACADEMICS: Plans to enter the Exercise Science/Physical Wellness program and aspires to become an athletic trainer.

Tech football opens 2020-21 season Sunday vs. Austin Peay

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It’s been a long wait for football season to arrive. Heck, the last game was in the previous decade. But on Sunday, football is back at Tucker Stadium, ending a nearly 15-month drought of gridiron action, as Tennessee Tech plays host to Austin Peay. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Roger Ealey will provide the radio call for 98.5 KISS FM, while Dylan Vazzano and Sam Brooks handle broadcast duties for ESPN+ (subscription required).
