COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – If you missed any of the excitement last weekend with Tennessee Tech football, next Saturday will be a great jumping on point as the Golden Eagles host Virginia-Wise for the annual Family Weekend contest.
It's a bigger and better atmosphere and it just keeps growing, so come be a part of it.
The fun and excitement starts three hours before the start of the game with the 98.5 KISS FM Tailgate Park. Spaces are filling up fast with two-thirds of the available spots taken up during last week's contest.
But there's something for everyone with plenty of food options from community supporters, bounce houses for the kids, local bands performing, as well as performances for the Tennessee Tech cheer and dance teams and the Pride of Tennessee Tech, the Golden Eagle Marching Band. It all surrounds the Golden Eagle Walk as the Tech Football Team and head coach Dewayne Alexander march through the fans and enter Tucker Stadium.
On the stage this season are:
- Shattered -- 9/14 (vs. Virginia-Wise) and 11/9 (vs. Jacksonville State) – From Sparta, Shattered is a country, classic rock, southern rock band that has been featured all over the mid-state.
- Rigid Class -- 10/12 (vs. UT Martin) – Performing for 12 years and since they were kids, this band, featuring influences all the way from Robert Johnson to Green Day, strives to bring back what they feel music has lost – 'genuine, honest and pure straight-forward Rock and Roll.'
- The Smoky Nights -- 10/26 (vs. Austin Peay) and Nov. 23 (vs. Tennessee State) – Having just released its first album in July, this local favorite blends soul, pop, folk, rhythm and blues and rock with a diverse range of instrumentation.
Now's the time to be part of the action. To secure a spot in the 98.5 KISS FM Tailgate Park, call Allison Boshears at (931) 372-3937 for information.
