Bio
2015 (Freshman): Akers played in 11 games last season, recording 12 tackles – two unassisted and 10 assisted. He also had half of a tackle-for-loss for five yards.
HIGH SCHOOL: A three-year starter at Oakland High School, Anthony Akers was the run-stopper for the Patriots with 85 total tackles. He played his prep football for former Golden Eagle Thomas McDaniel, and was named all-district and all-county as a senior in 2014. He also earned a spot on the Daily News Journal all-area team. Selected a permanent team captain, his final season also included 24 tackles-for-loss and six quarterback sacks. He also forced three fumbles, recovered two fumbles and had one interception.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – A good defense starts up front with the defensive line, and through some hard work during the offseason and so far during training camp, the Tennessee Tech football team looks to have made some strides on the front lines. And a lot of that progress has come with the defensive tackles. Golden Eagle assistant coach and defensive tackles coach Sam Williamson is happy with the progress he’s seen so far.
