Bio
Amanda spent her freshman season at Reinhardt College before
transferring to Tech, and is in her first season on the Golden
Eagle roster...a middle distance runner who will concentrate on the
800m and 1,500m races...should also be a mainstay in the lineup
during her first cross country season at Tech.
AT TECH - (in 2008-09): Amanda ran in six meets
for Tech during the fall cross country season...ran her best time
at Evansville with a 20:29 finish.
(In 2007-08): Amanda ran in all seven meets for
the Golden Eagle cross country team during the fall...best time at
5K was 21:46 at the Western Kentucky meet...ran her second-best
time of the year (21:58) at the OVC Championships...competed in two
indoor events during the spring track season...in the 800m, posted
a seasonal personal-best time of 2:36.98 at ETSU...also
participated in the mile run with a seasonal personal-best time of
5:50.81 at Sewanee...along with her indoor season, she also
participated in two outdoor events...in the outdoor 800m, she
placed a time of 2:31.27 at the OVC Championships...also competed
in the 1500m with a personal-best time of 5:22.44 at Purdue.
HIGH SCHOOL: Amanda was home-schooled for her high school
career and was a three-sport letterwinner, competing in tennis,
basketball and cross country...was selected captain of the cross
country team twice under coach Howard Brummel.
PERSONAL: The daughter of Mike and Kay
Simmons...full name is Amanda Michelle Simmons...enrolled in art
education...her uncle (Kent Pettyjohn) was a Golden Eagle football
letterman in 1979-81.
