COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois won a nailbiter over Tennessee Tech in Charleston. On Saturday, it was the Golden Eagles’ turn. After the visiting Panthers took a 68-67 lead with just over two minutes remaining in the contest, Peyton Carter pulled down an offensive board and put the ball back in to retake the advantage at 69-68 and 1:46 left. CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Peyton Carter surpassed her previous career high in scoring before the first half had ended. She didn’t even miss a shot in the first half as she paced the Tennessee Tech women’s team against Southeast Missouri on Thursday night. Her output in the first 20 minutes, along with double-digit nights for Maaliya Owens and Anna Walker, allowed the Golden Eagles to take a 76-66 victory over the Redhawks. Leading by as many as 23 points midway through the third quarter, Tech (10-12, 5-6 Ohio Valley Conference) had to hold off a furious comeback from SEMO as the Redhawks cut the game back to within four points with 5:03 remaining in the contest. COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech came out hot on Thursday and put up big numbers on Education Day, thrilling a near-record crowd in the Eblen Center as the Golden Eagles soared to a 104-43 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan. The announced attendance of 5,887 stands as the second-most fans for a women’s basketball home game at the Hooper Eblen Center. The 61-point margin of victory is also the fourth-largest in the program’s history. It is also Tech’s first 100-point game since 2018. The Golden Eagles (3-6) scored 38 points in the first quarter alone, banking on a 75-percent shooting rate, hitting 15 of their 20 shots. Tech was also able to force 31 turnovers in the contest, converting those into 46 points. Reagan Hurst had four steals, while Maaliya Owens, Jennifer Sullivan and Harley Paynter each had three.

The 63-47 final on Sunday wasn’t the desired result, but it’s definitely something to build from. The Golden Eagles fall to 2-6 on the season with a few chances to improve their record before Ohio Valley Conference begins in 18 days. Tech hosts Tennessee Wesleyan on Thursday for its annual Education Day contest, then Northern Kentucky next Monday before closing out the non-conference portion of the schedule on the road at North Alabama on Dec. 21.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Tennessee Tech had the game down to just one point with just 3:52 remaining in the contest Sunday. Every time Kentucky was able to get the lead out to double-digits prior to that point, the Golden Eagles kept coming back. However, Kentucky made the late surge at the free-throw line as the Wildcats scored 11 of their last 13 points at the stripe to take a 73-67 win Sunday afternoon at Transylvania University’s Clive M. Beck Center.

Now the Golden Eagle women’s basketball team will head up to Lexington looking to knock off Kentucky on Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. Central tipoff at Transylvania University’s Clive M. Beck Center with renovations to UK’s Memorial Coliseum seeing the Wildcats splitting time at Transy and Rupp Arena. COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Reghan Grimes was a spark Wednesday night as the Tennessee Tech women cruised to an 84-57 victory over Division II Lincoln Memorial. The Golden Eagles improved to 2-4 on the season, while the game does not count against the visiting Lady Railsplitters as they are counting the game as an exhibition contest. Grimes, the sophomore from Nashville, scored a career-high 20 points as she finished 5-for-6 from the field, including a 3-point shot in the middle of Tech’s 13-0 run in the first quarter, while also going 9-for-12 at the free-throw line. Grimes also had six rebounds.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – There’s nothing like getting that first win of the season. Building on the momentum the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team created during Friday’s contest against Missouri, the Golden Eagles led from the start and never looked back, taking a 65-59 victory over Stetson on Saturday to close out their play in the Daytona Beach Classic. Tech (1-4) got double-digit scoring production from four players as Anna Walker led the way with 16 points, while Maaliya Owens had 12, Reagan Hurst 11 and Reghan Grimes 10. Everything that worked in the Golden Eagles’ one-point loss Friday to Southeastern Conference foe Missouri seemed to click again.

The Golden Eagles cruised to an 89-44 victory on Thursday night against visiting Christian Brothers University. While the statistics from the contest do not count as it was a preseason affair, Tech had some solid performances in the victory. Graduate Maaliya Owens picked up right where she left off breaking the single-season 3-pointers made mark with 92 a year ago. On Thursday, she knocked down four of her eight long-range tries and was a perfect 5-for-5 at the free-throw line.

As head coach Kim Rosamond returned with graduate standout Maaliya Owens on Tuesday for Ohio Valley Conference Basketball Media Day, it wasn't to reminisce on the past, it was to focus on the task ahead of them. While the Tech women are picked to win the OVC for the second straight season, the thought on their mind is simple – it's time to get down to business. In addition to the Golden Eagles getting the nod from the league voters, consisting of the women's basketball coaches and sports information contacts, graduate guard Owens was also named the conference's Preseason Player of the Year and senior forward Anna Walker was named to the Preseason All-OVC team.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After one of the most successful seasons for the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team with an Ohio Valley Conference championship and a victory in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, Kim Rosamond has certainly cemented a place for herself in the program’s history. She’ll get the opportunity to add to her legacy in Cookeville as Rosamond received a five-year contract extension through the end of the 2027-28 campaign, as announced today by Tennessee Tech Director of Athletics Mark Wilson. “Kim Rosamond has had a vision for the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball program since the day she first walked in to the Hooper Eblen Center,” Wilson said. “Her determination, her commitment to Golden Eagle basketball has been tremendous and the results speak for themselves. As the team continues to build on its legacy, Coach Rosamond’s teams have brought the University and the community together in support and I truly believe what she has built over these last few years is only the beginning.”
