HIGH SCHOOL: A standout at West Forsyth High School, Cowart scored 1,551 points in her career -- the second-most in program history -- while also setting a school record with 364 career assists along with 708 rebounds ... Cowart's squad reached the Georgia state tournament all four years in both basketball and volleyball, reaching the Sweet 16 in basketball as a senior and the Final Four in volleyball as a freshman ... was named second-team all-state as a junior and senior ... twice named Player of the Year by the Forsyth County News and was twice an Athlete of the Year nominee ... saw her numbers improve as a sophomore as she posted an average of 19.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game as a junior ... followed that pace as a senior, averaging 16.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.7 steals per game with 24 blocks.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Trailing by 10 with just over six minutes remaining in the contest, the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team needed a run at just the right time. After getting an 11-point streak in the first quarter, the Golden Eagles knew it was possible. And Tech found it through some incredible play around the lineup as the Golden Eagles went on a 17-2 run to close out the game and take a 66-61 victory over Eastern Illinois on Friday in the Ohio Valley Conference Basketball Championship semifinals at the Ford Center.

Tech women cruise to season sweep over Lindenwood

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech fans might be forgiven for a slight feeling of déjà vu on Thursday night at the Hooper Eblen Center as the Golden Eagles put together another strong outing against Lindenwood, almost mirroring its previous contest against the Lions back in December. Tech (16-9, 10-5 Ohio Valley Conference) cruised to a 71-39 victory over the Lions, using a 10-0 run in the second quarter to help close the door early. The Golden Eagles also accomplished something they haven’t done in some time – securing double-digit wins in the OVC for the fifth straight season, the first time the team has done that stretch since the 2001-02 campaign.

Golden Eagle women take Education Day victory over Tennessee Wesleyan

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With the roar of over four thousand Upper Cumberland students accenting the scene at the Hooper Eblen Center, the Tennessee Tech women cruised to a 85-52 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan to wrap up the home portion of the non-conference schedule. The Golden Eagles (5-3) finish that section 4-0 in the Eblen Center before league play begins at the end of the month. Tech still has some road action left before the Christmas holiday as the Golden Eagles begin their Louisiana swing on Saturday with a visit to ULM before heading into New Orleans on Tuesday and Wednesday for the Tulane Holiday Tournament against VCU and an opponent to be determined later between host Tulane and its opponent, Saint Francis.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After a slow start, the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team battled back in the second quarter to erase a 12-point deficit to take a halftime lead, then held on to claim a 75-70 victory over Samford on Monday night in the Hooper Eblen Center. Junior Anna Walker led Tech with a career-high 24 points, shooting 11-for-15 from the field, as she also pulled down five rebounds and blocked two shots. The sizeable posts for Samford – including Sussy Ngulefac, Kathleen Wheeler and Kiersten Nelson – made Walker work for every point.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The game Monday night may have come down to the wire, but the Tennessee Tech women got the most important thing in the season opener against Ball State – the victory. The Golden Eagles put their first notch in the win column, topping the Cardinals – currently ranked No. 14 in the CollegeInsider.com Preseason Top 25 – with a 68-63 victory in the Hooper Eblen Center on Monday night. Ball State (0-1) certainly made it interesting though. After the Golden Eagles used a few runs in the second quarter to build a 19-point lead in the contest, the Cardinals rallied back, outscoring the Golden Eagles 39-29 in the second half and 16-9 in the fourth quarter. BSU even cut the deficit down to one point with 1:44 remaining in the contest.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Fans will get their chance to see the Ohio Valley Conference preseason No. 1-ranked Tennessee Tech women’s basketball squad in action Thursday night as the Golden Eagles take on Stephens College in exhibition action as a part of the annual Purple Palooza event. Admission to the game is free to the public with doors at the Hooper Eblen Center opening at 4:30 p.m. for trick-or-treating around the Hoop’s concourse with campus and community groups handing out candy and treats for the children in attendance. Tech women picked to win OVC; three named to preseason team

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – It's a familiar spot for the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team as they were picked to win the Ohio Valley Conference in Tuesday's preseason poll released at the conference's annual Basketball Media Day at the Evansville DoubleTree Hotel and the Ford Center. It's the first time since 2011-12 that the Golden Eagles were picked to win the league outright and the 13th time Tech was the favorite in the poll. Tech is looking for its 19th OVC regular-season title and 10th tournament crown as the 2022-23 season opens at the end of the month.

Every student-athlete has a story, details about themselves and their background that extend beyond just the playing field and athletics.  Throughout the summer, we will take a look at the members of the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team and get to know more about them, the student-athletes who are representing not just their home communities, but also the University, Cookeville and the Upper Cumberland as they don the purple and gold.
