AT CHATTANOOGA STATE: A transfer from Chattanooga State CC, Talley finished the 2021 campaign with a .425 batting average as she hit 15 home runs and 10 doubles. She also recorded a .533 on-base percentage. She was named the TCCAA Player of the Year and a third-team All-American, while also earning all-region second team and all-conference honors.

HIGH SCHOOL: In high school at Carbondale Community High, Talley earned three first-team all-conference selections, as well as a conference MVP honor. The two-year team captain earned a pair of all-state picks and was named to the Southern Illinois Select team for three seasons. She helped lead the team to a regional championship in 2019, hitting .567 as a senior with nine home runs.

PERSONAL: The daughter of Eugene and Kim Talley ... born March 9, 2001 in Troy, Mich.

ACADEMICS: Plans to study exercise science with an interest in chiropractic.

OXFORD, Ala. – After Southeast Missouri went up 5-0 in the top of the first, the Tennessee Tech softball team didn’t back down. In game two, Tech tied the game at four runs each early, but EIU (25-29, 10-17 Ohio Valley Conference) shut the Golden Eagles down offensively and took a 10-4 victory.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After a tough weekend against Belmont last Friday and Saturday, the Tennessee Tech softball team was able to get its feet back beneath them with a big midweek victory over Chattanooga. Now, Tech can use that to build some momentum on Saturday and Sunday as the Golden Eagles head to Nashville to take on Tennessee State. The Tigers (12-31, 3-14 Ohio Valley Conference) slipped into last place in the OVC after Morehead State swept SIUE last weekend. With three weekends remaining in the conference race – and 11 games remaining for the Golden Eagles with TSU, Morehead State, Murray State and Eastern Illinois still remaining on the slate – there’s still a lot that can happen in the standings.

After all, there’s nothing more dramatic than a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Buettner hit two home runs against Indiana State and had six RBI on Monday to lead the Golden Eagles to an 11-3 win over Bellarmine and a 7-4 win over the Sycamores to close out the event. Buettner finished the tournament hitting .462 with four home runs and 11 RBI.

The Golden Eagles (15-6) continue action in the event Monday morning at 10 a.m. as they take on Bellarmine. The remainder of the schedule – Bellarmine vs. Quinnipiac, Indiana State vs. Quinnipiac and Indiana State at Tech – will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the preceding game. Abby Buettner had a game, going 3-for-3 in the contest with five RBI and two home runs. Her first homer, a solo shot, came with one down in the second inning. The second one was a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth to force the run rule.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --  The Tennessee Tech offense came out on fire in the first game of the Golden Eagle Classic against Quinnipiac, then Tyler Erwin claimed a victory in the pitcher’s duel in the night cap as the Golden Eagles won their fifth straight game and five of their last six, topping the Bobcats 11-0 in five innings, then beating Quinnipiac 2-0 in the second game. The Golden Eagles (14-6) return to action on Sunday as the Golden Eagle Classic continues. Eight newcomers are scattered across the 20-player roster, giving the Golden Eagles a different complexion They’ll be put to the test immediately as Tech opens the season at the Blue Hose Invitational, hosted by Presbyterian College. In addition to the hosts, the Golden Eagles will also face Northern Kentucky and South Carolina State in the three-day event. Schedule changes took effect late last week and are now as follows (all times Central): Friday – vs. Northern Kentucky, 9 a.m.; at Presbyterian, 11:15 a.m.; Saturday – vs. South Carolina State, 9 a.m.; vs. Northern Kentucky, 1:30 p.m.; Sunday – vs. South Carolina State, 11:15 a.m. Live stats may not be available for games not featuring the host school.
