2021 (Freshman, Tennessee): Cole saw action in nine games, recording a .200 average with an RBI and four runs scored among her five plate appearances.

HIGH SCHOOL: The former The King's Academy standout was a highly-decorated player, earning three Knoxville News Sentinel All-PrepXtra team selections, three all-county selections with two MVP nods, three all-district picks, three all-region team and two MVP honors, and was a three-time all-state selection. She led her team to two state championships.

A Gatorade Player of the Year nominee, Cole collected an 84-11 record in her three-year career with a 2.06 ERA and 586 strikeouts. She also had tremendous numbers at the plate, hitting .490 with 134 RBI, 25 home runs, 38 doubles and 15 triples.

OXFORD, Ala. – After Southeast Missouri went up 5-0 in the top of the first, the Tennessee Tech softball team didn’t back down. Abby Buettner drilled two home runs and picked up all five Golden Eagle RBI in the game, but the game wasn’t out of reach at any point. While the Golden Eagles fell 6-5 in the contest Thursday night, Tech had every opportunity to retake the lead.

CHARLESTON, Ill. – After a 12-0 lead in game one, the Tennessee Tech softball team saw Eastern Illinois rally back, tying the game in the seventh inning to send the contest into extra innings, then the Panthers walked off the game in the eighth for a 16-15 victory over the Golden Eagles. In game two, Tech tied the game at four runs each early, but EIU (25-29, 10-17 Ohio Valley Conference) shut the Golden Eagles down offensively and took a 10-4 victory.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee State made Tennessee Tech earn everything on Saturday, keeping the Golden Eagles quiet on the scoreboard. Tech had to tie the day’s opener in the sixth inning, then earn the extra-inning victory in the eighth to claim the opener 4-3. Then, after trailing 2-0 early, the Golden Eagles rallied for single runs in the third, fourth and fifth to take a 3-2 win in the nightcap.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Alyssa Arden was just two outs away from her fourth career no-hitter, leading Belmont 1-0 in the top of the seventh inning during Friday’s second game. However, the Bruins spoiled that and more, going on to sweep the Golden Eagles in the twinbill. Elison Ollinger hit a solo home run to break up the no-hit bid, then drove in two more in the eighth inning as the Bruins earned a 5-1 victory in eight innings in game one. She finished the night with five RBI as she also had a two-run home run in the first inning of game two. After the Golden Eagles tied the game in the second inning, the Bruins struck for nine runs in the top of the fifth inning as Belmont collected seven straight hits and tallied nine total in the frame to force the run rule in the nightcap, topping Tech 13-4.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – It’ll be a quick turnaround for the Tennessee Tech softball team. After taking the first two games against Morehead State in the travel partner home-and-home doubleheaders, the Golden Eagles will hit the road once more this week as they prepare to head to Clarksville on Saturday and Sunday for a three-game set against Austin Peay. The series, the last between these Ohio Valley Conference in-state rivals since the Govs are joining the Atlantic Sun Conference next season, will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required). The Golden Eagles (22-9, 5-3 Ohio Valley Conference) saw Shelby Penning collect five RBI in the day’s 9-1 opener with a grand slam and a solo home run, then Haeli Bryson, Abby Buettner and Sydney Love-Baker all went yard in the night cap to get an 8-0 victory to win their fifth straight game. COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Haeli Bryson didn’t record a strikeout until the seventh inning, but she didn’t need to. Her Tennessee Tech teammates behind her were playing stellar defense. Stranding nine Southeast Missouri baserunners in the contest, the Golden Eagles were able to make a two-run lead stick and sweep the Redhawks with a 2-0 victory on Sunday at Tech Softball Field. With the win, the Golden Eagles (20-9, 3-3 Ohio Valley Conference) reached 20 wins for the first time since the 2016 campaign – and there’s still over a month remaining in the regular season. The victory also gave Tech its first three-game sweep over SEMO since the 2006 season.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After a tough weekend at UT Martin last week, the Tennessee Tech softball team rebounded in a big way on Saturday, taking both ends of the doubleheader against defending Ohio Valley Conference champion Southeast Missouri, claiming both games in dramatic fashion. After all, there’s nothing more dramatic than a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Carmen Betts did just that, facing an 0-2 count with two down – a pitch away from going to another extra frame. The solo shot gave the Golden Eagles (19-9, 2-3 OVC) a 5-4 victory in the nightcap. Alyssa Arden also completed the 10-inning marathon, throwing 178 pitches to pick up her league-leading 10th victory of the season in the full-game effort.

MARTIN, Tenn. – It was a tough Sunday for the Tennessee Tech softball team as UT Martin completed the three-game sweep with a pair of one-run losses. The Skyhawks (16-7, 3-0 Ohio Valley Conference) scored a go-ahead run in the fifth inning of the day’s opener as Katie Dreiling had an RBI grounder to second to score Anna Blanton to take a 3-2 lead that held through the remainder of the contest.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With the way Abby Buettner was hitting over the last four days, the Tennessee Tech designated player might not have wanted the Golden Eagle Classic to end. Buettner hit two home runs against Indiana State and had six RBI on Monday to lead the Golden Eagles to an 11-3 win over Bellarmine and a 7-4 win over the Sycamores to close out the event. Buettner finished the tournament hitting .462 with four home runs and 11 RBI.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team has put together its longest winning streak in 11 seasons, earning its sixth win in a row on Sunday, topping Bellarmine 10-1 on Sunday in the second day of the Golden Eagle Classic. The Golden Eagles (15-6) continue action in the event Monday morning at 10 a.m. as they take on Bellarmine. The remainder of the schedule – Bellarmine vs. Quinnipiac, Indiana State vs. Quinnipiac and Indiana State at Tech – will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the preceding game. Abby Buettner had a game, going 3-for-3 in the contest with five RBI and two home runs. Her first homer, a solo shot, came with one down in the second inning. The second one was a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth to force the run rule.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --  The Tennessee Tech offense came out on fire in the first game of the Golden Eagle Classic against Quinnipiac, then Tyler Erwin claimed a victory in the pitcher’s duel in the night cap as the Golden Eagles won their fifth straight game and five of their last six, topping the Bobcats 11-0 in five innings, then beating Quinnipiac 2-0 in the second game. The Golden Eagles (14-6) return to action on Sunday as the Golden Eagle Classic continues. Tech will host Bellarmine in the day’s opener at Noon, while Indiana State will take on Bellarmine at 2:30 and Quinnipiac returns to action against the Sycamores at 5 p.m. With the winter storm watch in effect for Friday night and Saturday morning, the schedule is subject to change. JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – East Tennessee State made it interesting late, but the Tennessee Tech softball team was able to hold on Sunday afternoon, completing the three-game sweep over the Bucs, 5-4. The Golden Eagles improve to 12-6 on the season and will prepare to host their own tournament this weekend as Quinnipiac, Bellarmine and Indiana State come in for the Golden Eagle Classic. Tyler Erwin picked up the victory, her fourth of the season, as she allowed one earned run – three total – on eight hits, walking one and striking out four. Alyssa Arden came on in relief, allowing one run on five hits while striking out two in the final three innings to earn her first save of the season.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – As the Tennessee Tech softball team got a taste of normal weekend action on Saturday with a doubleheader against East Tennessee State, the first two portions of a three-game series, the Golden Eagles struck often, claiming a late-inning 4-3 victory in the opener, then opening the floodgates in game two for a 9-4 victory. The Golden Eagles (11-6) return to action on Sunday for the final game of the series, starting at 12 p.m. Central. Haeli Bryson and Mackenzie Fitzgerald both went yard for the Golden Eagles. Fitzgerald’s blast came as a solo shot in the top of the fifth inning, then Bryson knocked out two in the nightcap, leading off the fourth and fifth innings with solo shots.

CLINTON, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech softball team closed out the final day of the Blue Hose Invitational on a high note as the Golden Eagles struck for 13 runs and freshman Tyler Erwin picked up her first career victory in the circle as Tech shut out South Carolina State 13-0 in five innings. Erwin threw the first four innings, allowing four hits and striking out four. Callie Piper closed out the game in the fifth, yielding a hit while striking out another Bulldog.

CLINTON, S.C. – As the 2022 Tennessee Tech softball team begins its campaign on Friday, things are going to look a bit different in the lineup. Eight newcomers are scattered across the 20-player roster, giving the Golden Eagles a different complexion They’ll be put to the test immediately as Tech opens the season at the Blue Hose Invitational, hosted by Presbyterian College. In addition to the hosts, the Golden Eagles will also face Northern Kentucky and South Carolina State in the three-day event. Schedule changes took effect late last week and are now as follows (all times Central): Friday – vs. Northern Kentucky, 9 a.m.; at Presbyterian, 11:15 a.m.; Saturday – vs. South Carolina State, 9 a.m.; vs. Northern Kentucky, 1:30 p.m.; Sunday – vs. South Carolina State, 11:15 a.m. Live stats may not be available for games not featuring the host school.
