Spring 2020 (Freshman): Sutton took part in the team's only event of the spring before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic… shot a 70-72-74=216 to tie for 24th in a field of 105 at the Bash at the Beach (Mar. 9-10)… was the first recipient of the newly created Coach's Award… finished his rookie season with a 75.06 scoring average.
Fall 2019 (Freshman): Sutton participated in all five of Tech's fall tournaments, totaling 14 rounds of action… made his collegiate debut with a 77-80-68=225 at the EKU Intercollegiate (Sept. 14-15)… the 68 represented his low round of the year… turned in a season-low 76-71-70=217 one week later at the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational (Sept. 23-24), tying for 21st… totaled a 77-78=155 at the Intercollegiate at The Grove (Oct. 6-8)… wrapped up the fall with a scoring average of 75.71.
High School: Sutton was a four-time letterwinner under head coach David Scholl at Porter Ridge High School in Indian Trail, N.C…. led his team to a conference title… was named All-Conference each of his four seasons on the team… earned back-to-back Conference Player of the Year accolades and was also the Conference Rookie of the Year… was the Union County champion.
Personal: Son of Jason and Tiffanie Sutton… born April 20, 2001… full name is Nicklaus Palmer Sutton… father, Jason, was a member of the Glenville State golf team for four years.
Academic: Majoring in business management… named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll twice and to the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll once.
