2022: Saw action in 10 games ... recorded 12 total tackles ... had one sack for seven yards and two tackles-for-loss for nine yards ... had a season-high four tackles at Eastern Illinois (10/29/22) ... recorded the sack against Lindenwood (11/5/22).
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Part of two TSSAA state championship teams at Oakland High School for head coach Kevin Creasy, Gaines had tremendous seasons in his junior and senior campaigns. As a junior, he had 108 total tackles -- 73 solo -- with 6.5 sacks. In 2021, his totals were off the charts with 147 total tackles -- 100 solo -- and 8.0 sacks.

Golden Eagles fall at Lindenwood in conference opener

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Tennessee Tech was able to get deep into Lindenwood territory, but as hard as the Golden Eagles tried, Tech was silenced on Saturday as the host Lions shut the Golden Eagles out 23-0 at Hunter Stadium. But the Golden Eagles were already fighting an uphill battle as Lindenwood returner Spencer Redd took Devin Parker's opening kickoff and returned it 99 yards for a touchdown – the first kickoff returned for a touchdown against the Golden Eagles since UT Martin in 2016.

First scrimmage sees positives on both sides of the ball

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Thunderstorms may have shortened Tennessee Tech Football’s work on Saturday, but as the Golden Eagles completed their first scrimmage at Tucker Stadium, there were a lot of positive signs. Offensively, the Tech rushing attack saw a lot of big gains as Justin Pegues, Jordan Harris and Montana transfer Marcus Knight each piled up solid yardage numbers in the scrimmage.
