Bio
2015 (Junior, at Marshall):
2014: (Transfer year, at Marshall): Sat out the season for a transfer year.
2013: (Sophomore, at James Madison): As the starting quarterback for the Dukes, Birdsong completed 227 of his 376 passes (.604) for 2,728 yards, 22 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He also rushed 129 times for 310 yards and three touchdowns. His top performance was a 23-of-34 effort for 355 yards and five touchdowns in a 41-38 loss to Stony Brook. His career-long pass completion of 71 yards came in a win over Richmond.
2012: (Freshman, at James Madison): He was the only true freshman to play for the Dukes that season, playing in eight games with two starts against Georgia State and Maine before an injury ended his season. He threw for 478 yards on 41-of-77 passing with four touchdowns and one interception, while rushing for 179 yards and one touchdown.
HIGH SCHOOL: Birdsong went to Matoaca High School where he threw for more than 3,000 career yards with 31 touchdowns. He was named the Central District Player of the Year and All-Central District first team by the coaches during his senior season after throwing for 1,758 yards and 19 touchdowns and rushing for 400 yards and six scores. He was also named to the Richmond Times-Dispatch second team All-Region and All-Metro, as well as Virginia Preps.com All-Central Region Special Recognition and all-region second team honors In 2011.
He was ranked No. 41 among the top 100 players in Virginia by the Roanoke Times. He also threw for 1,057 yards and 10 touchdowns his junior year while playing in just six games. He won the Quarterback MVP Award at the March 2011 National Underclassmen Combine in Richmond. He also played basketball and baseball in high school.

Several teams looked at Birdsong during the offseason, and with the numbers he put up on the field in his lone season with the Golden Eagles, it wasn't hard to see why.
