Colby has a tremendous passing arm and runs well, providing the Golden Eagles with a solid understudy at quarterback...came out of spring drills anxious to challenge for the starting role...still learning the Tech offense...a junior college product who enrolled at Tech in January and had the opportunity to learn the system on the field in spring drills...has similar skills to Jared Davis...exceptionally competitive...has real leadership potential...a student of the game who studies films and asks questions.

AT TECH (IN 2014): Colby was a mid-season addition to the Tech roster, enrolling in January at participating in spring drills.

COFFEYVILLE JC: Colby spent one season at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College where he was off to a sensational start in 2014 before sustaining a season-ending injury...playing in the first four games, the versatile quarterback ranked second in the nation with a pass completion mark of 68 percent...was fifth nationally with 13 touchdown passes in four contests, and eighth in the nation with 1,070 passing yards...also rushed for 154 yards, giving him 1,224 yards of total offense, an average of 306 yards per game.

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year starter at Plant High School, Colby's high school numbers were stunning, passing for 2,983 yards and 31 touchdowns, and rushing for 182 yards and four touchdowns in his final season...had a completion mark of 71 percent and broke the school record for passing yards in a single game when he threw for 519 yards, a record previously held by former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray.
