2023 (Junior): Gilliland played in and started 50 of Tech’s 55 games, including 37 at catcher and 13 as the designated hitter… led the team and ranked fifth in the OVC with a .454 on-base percentage and paced Tech with 44 walks to just 27 strikeouts… ranked third on the squad with a .309 batting average, 10 home runs, and a .976 OPS… represented just the fourth backstop in school history to hit the double-digit dinger mark… also contributed 55 hits, 35 runs, eight doubles, and 32 RBI… finished the year with a .985 fielding percentage, throwing out 13 runners attempting to steal… became just the 29th player in program history to record five hits in a game, finishing 5-for-6 with three RBI and two runs in Tech’s victory at #19 Tennessee (Apr. 18)… finished 4-for-4 with three RBI in the second game of a doubleheader against SIUE (May 6)… scored a season-high three runs at Queens (Mar. 3) as part of a three-hit day and again against UT Martin (Apr. 21)… smashed two long balls against SIUE (May 5), his first multi-home run performance of his career… crushed a dinger in three straight games against Lipscomb (Feb. 28), at Queens (Mar. 3), and at Queens (Mar. 4) again… drew a season-high three walks four times… drove in a season-best three runs in six contests… batted .515 with 17 hits, five dingers, and 13 RBI over the final 10 games of the regular season… finished third on the team with 14 multi-hit efforts and tied for first with five games of three or more hits… tied for the team lead with 12 contests with multiple RBI… scored multiple runs in nine contests… ended the season on a 14-game reached base streak.

2021 (Freshman): Gilliland played in 40 of Tech’s 47 games, making 28 starts, including 24 at catcher and four as the designated hitter… slashed .290/.343/.430 in his rookie campaign… compiled 27 hits with nine runs, 12 RBI, seven doubles, two home runs, and eight walks… tallied a .966 fielding percentage and threw out nine runners trying to steal… made his collegiate debut as a defensive substitute against Southern Illinois (Feb. 20)… collected his first career start and hit, a double, against Alabama State (Feb. 20)… earned his first career RBI with a pair in the second game of a doubleheader at Kent State (Feb. 27)… scored his first run against North Alabama (Mar. 2)… posted a season-high three hits in the second tilt of a double dip with Eastern Illinois (Mar. 20), cracking his first collegiate home run… racked up three hits again with season-highs of four RBI and two runs in the second contest of a doubleheader at UT Martin (May 15), smashing his second long ball of the year… notched multiple hits in four games and drove in multiple runs three times.

High School: Gilliland was a four-year letterwinner as a catcher for head coach Robbie Bennett at Heritage High School in Maryville… kicked off 2020 on a torrid start, slashing .548/.641/.1,419 with seven home runs and 24 RBI in 10 games before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic… named Heritage’s Male Athlete of the Year as a senior… member of the 2019 All-Blount County Team… named to the 2019 Team Tennessee Sunbelt team, comprised of the top-20 players in the state.
