Bio

2012 (JUNIOR):
Guyear made 49 appearances and started 47 games while batting .266 and blasting five home runs… started the year at third base, but quickly moved to outfield for the remainder of the season to make use of his speed… against the Clemson Tigers, stood out by going 4-for-5 with four RBI and a home run… got on base four times against Lipscomb, gathering one hit and three walks… finished ninth in the OVC in sacrifice bunts with eight… had a 1.000 stolen base percentage (4-for-4)… had 11 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games.

2011 (SOPHOMORE):
Guyear made 32 starts in 36 appearances in his sophomore season, making most of his starts at second base… drove in 15 runs and scored 19 times, while hitting .267… went 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts and recorded 95 putouts in the field… tallied two walks in two separate games and recorded three hits against Purdue… put together a nine-game hitting streak, including four multi-hit games during that span.

2010 (FRESHMAN):
Guyear stepped in to fill the third base position for an injured Devin Rivers mid-season, hitting .333 from April 13 through the end of the season… started a total of 31 games for Tech, mainly at the second and third base positions, recording a .320 average for the year… went 41-for-128 with six doubles, two triples, and three home runs, knocking in 28 runs and accumulating 60 total bases… maintained a .469 slugging percentage over the course of the season as well as a .396 on-base percentage… in his first 50 at-bats, held his average close to the .400 mark.

HIGH SCHOOL:
Guyear earned four letters in baseball, playing in the infield, outfield, and pitching at Marion County High School… was named 2009 6AA Player of the Year, 2008 6AA All-District, and 2008 and 2009 Chattanooga Times Best of Preps… led his team to four consecutive District 6AA championships and regional championships in 2007 and 2008… in 2009, hit 13 doubles, four triples, and three home runs, while tallying 46 RBIs, 23 stolen bases, and a .429 batting average… hit .403 for his career.

PERSONAL:
Jacob Zephaniah Guyear is the son of David and Sherry Guyear. He was born Aug. 9, 1991. Guyear is majoring in criminal justice.
