2023 (Freshman): Karlen competed in all 20 matches in Tech’s inaugural beach campaign, finishing 8-10 overall with a 4-6 mark in OVC play… went 2-2 at No. 1, 3-5 as the No. 2, 2-3 in the No. 3 slot, and 1-0 as the No. 4 duo… competed with Skylar Boom (4-5, 3-3 OVC), Morgan Gish (3-4, 0-3 OVC), Bella Powell (1-0, 1-0 OVC), and Brooke Amann (0-1) during the year… represented Tech in the No. 1 position with Boom in the final six matches of the year, including all four tilts in the OVC Tournament… made her collegiate debut and won her first match pairing with Gish for a 2-0 decision over Spartanburg Methodist (Feb. 24)… clinched Tech’s second OVC Tournament victory in program history with Boom behind an impressive, 2-0 win over Eastern Illinois (Apr. 28) in the No. 1 position.
High School: Karlen was a four-year letterwinner at setter at Milton High School in Milton, Wis. for head coach Kaitlin Lundeen… a-three time captain, accumulated 2,282 assists, 197 service aces, 772 digs, 372 kills, and 114 blocks in four seasons… as a senior, delivered 645 helpers with 68 aces, 256 digs, 113 kills, and 52 blocks in 87 sets of action… earned back-to-back All-Conference First Team honors as a junior and senior… named an AAU All-American in 2018… helped lead MHS to a regional title as a freshman, distributing 597 assists with 47 aces and 158 digs in 69 sets… named Team MVP as a sophomore, junior, and senior.
Personal: Daughter of Jonathan and Sabrina Karlen… born in Beloit, Wis. on October 16, 2003… full name is Jordan Shea Karlen… sister, Juliet, is a junior defensive specialist at Waldorf University… aunt, Miranda Karlen, was a libero for Northern Illinois from 2017-21.
Academic: Majoring in exercise science and physical wellness with a concentration in fitness and wellness… named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll three times and the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll once… received the OVC Academic Medal of Honor once.
