2012 (JUNIOR):
Wulf proved to be a great lead off hitter this season and
started all 53 games and maintained a .314 batting average for the
season while driving in 25 runs. Wulf crossed the plate 37 times,
walked 21 times, hit four home runs, had three triples, and had 21
hit-by-pitch which ranked first on the team and first in the OVC.
Austin started of the season with a bang, going 23-for-43 while
stringing together a 14 game hitting streak. He had 19 multi-hit
games in which seven included three hits or more. Against Central
Michigan, he went 4-for-5 on the day with three RBI, two runs
scored, one home run, one walk, and two stolen bases. In the three
game series against Dayton, Wulf went 7-for-11, drove in three,
scored four runs, hit one home run, and walked and hit by a pitch
twice. He hit .500, going 8-16 in the Texas Tech Tournament,
earning all-tournament honors.
2011 (SOPHOMORE):
Austin was on of Tech’s mainstays in the outfield as he
started in all 54 games. He batted .284 as TTU’s primary
leadoff hitter and finished second on the team in runs scored with
41, while driving in 21 runs himself. Wulf recorded eight stolen
bases in 11 attempts and maintained a .990 fielding percentage. He
had 16 multi-hit games, including a trio of three hit games.
2010 (FRESHMAN):
Wulf started 35 of 47 games as the Golden Eagles’ primary
left fielder. He maintained a .340 batting average on the year,
going 53-156 at the plate including eight doubles, two triples and
two long balls. He earned 14 walks and stole four bases on the
season. Wulf peaked at the end of the 2010 season, getting hits in
12 of his last 14 games in the lead off position and raising his
batting average from a .309 to a .340.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Austin was a Louisville Slugger High School all-american, and a
two-time first-team all-section and first-team all-state selection
at Blackhawk High School. He was also named P6 West and Beaver
County Times all-star. He hit .508 his senior season with 29 RBIs,
32 runs scored, 11 stolen bases, nine doubles and two triples. Wulf
hit .533 (40-for-75) his junior season with 40 hits including 14
doubles, two triples and two home runs. He had 23 RBIs, scored 33
runs and stole 10 bases while leading his team to a section
championship and final four appearance his junior season, and a
league runner-up finish during his freshman and sophomore
campaigns. Austin played for coach Bob Amalia and also earned three
letters in football playing wide receiver and strong safety for
coach Joe Hamilton. Austin was named on the academic honor
roll.
PERSONAL:
Austin James Wulf is the son of Tony and Beth Wulf. He was born
Nov. 2, 1990. Wulf is majoring in Business Management.
