Volleyball clinics set in July for setters, hitters and defense
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With all of the camps and clinics being held at Tennessee Tech this summer, the month of July will feature the sport of volleyball. Golden Eagle volleyball head coach John Blair will host a trifecta of volleyball clinics, July 9, 23 and 30, each designed to focus on a particular aspect of the sport.
For serious volleyball players, the clinics are designed to give participants a concentrated dose of the fundamentals in all aspects of a volleyball match.
The clinic on Saturday, July 9, with feature a defensive skills, while the Saturday, July 23, event will focus on setting. The final clinic on Saturday, July 30, will feature hitting.
Pre-registration cost is $75 for each clinic, while the cost is
$85 if purchased on the day of the clinic. Attendees of two clinics
receive a $25 discount, and participants in all three clinics
receive a $50 discount.
The clinics will be held in Tennessee Tech’s Eblen
Center.
Blair heads into his eighth season as Golden Eagle head coach.
The 2008 Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year, he also coached
at the University of Mississippi for 16 years. His coaching history
also includes three seasons as an assistant coach at the University
of Tennessee and head coach at the University of Illinois.
He coached the South men’s volleyball team to a gold medal
in 1986 and a bronze in 1987 in the U.S. Olympic Festival.
A native of Knoxville, he played volleyball at Tennessee and
competed in the World University Games, and was a member of the
United States team training for the 1974 Pan Am Games.
