Ashley is now in her second season on the Golden Eagle track & field team who looks to continue to build for 2009...will compete in several field events, including shot put, discus, weight toss and javelin...excellent experience on the prep level and hopes to repeat that success for the Golden Eagles.
AT TECH (In 2008-09): Ashley posted another solid season in 2009, including personal-best marks and even a school record...competed in the shot put and weight throw during the indoor season, and outpaced the rest of the team in both...best distance in the shot put was 40-feet, 8 1/4 inches at Sewanee...achieved her best distance of the season in the weight throw at the OVC Championships, where she reached 41-feet, 11 1/4 inches...also competed in three outdoor events, and achieved career records in two of those...reached a distance in the shot put of 43-feet, 3 1/4 inches at Western Kentucky, a career-high, and the second-best in the event in school history...best distance in the hammer was 139-feet, 10 inches at the Tennessee State meet, which stands not only as a career-best mark but also as a new school record...best distance in the discus was 122-feet, 1 inch at Austin Peay.
(In 2007-08): Competed in four outdoor events
during the 2008 track campaign (shot put, discus, javelin, hammer
throw)...posted a distance of 40 feet, 11.5 inches in the shot put
at Mississippi State, which stands as a season-best for the
team...best distance of the season in discus was 125 feet, five
inches at the OVC Championships, which also stands as a team
season-best...went 111 feet, six inches in the hammer throw at TSU,
another season-best for the team...also competed in two indoor
events...posted the team's best distance in the shot put with a 41
feet, 9.25 inches showing at Sewanee...best distance in the weight
throw was 44 feet, 2.75 inches at the OVC Championship.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ashley played basketball and volleyball at McMinn County High School in Athens, in addition to being a member of the cross country and track & field teams...named Best Offesnive Player on the basketball squad, and was chosen MVP of the volleyball and track teams...named Best Thrower on the track team as a junior...was region champ and finished third in the region in the discus as a junior...in her senior season she was section and region shot put champ and placed eighth in the TSSAA state meet in both shot put and discus.
