Culp named captain for 2010 Golden Eagle volleyball squad

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Senior setter Melanie Culp has be
named the captain for the Tennessee Tech University volleyball team
for the 2010 season. She was named the captain by her
teammates.
As captain, Culp will set the standard for her teammates both
on and off the court. She will also serve as the liaison between
the team and programs at Tech and the Cookeville community.
“I feel honored,” Culp said. “It’s a
big responsibility and means a lot to me. I hope to be a good
leader.”
“Melanie is just a solid individual,” head coach
John Blair said. “She’s one of those players that gives
everything she’s got.”
During the 2009 season, Culp served as the primary setter for
the Golden Eagles and appeared in all 112 sets. She led the team in
assists with 1,107 and earned an OVC Setter of the Week award as
well.
The Golden Eagles open their 2010 season at the Clemson
Invitational Friday, as they take on the Albany Great Danes, at 4
p.m.
