TOLEDO, Ohio - The Tennessee Tech soccer team fell to Toledo
Sunday, 5-0, in the first ever meeting between the two schools.
Sunday's game was the second of a challenging two-game trip against
Mid-American Conference opponents. The Golden Eagles played Bowling
Green on Friday, losing 7-0. Bowling Green and Toledo have won the
last three MAC championships (BGSU 2005; Toledo 2006, 2007).
Tech finished the game with two shots on goal, coming from seniors
Rebecca Ross and Rachel Martin-Trevino. Freshman goalkeeper Kaitlyn
Thacker got the start for the Golden Eagles, finishing with seven
saves, after playing the entire first half against BGSU Friday.
Toledo (4-1-0) was lead by Ali Leak who put up a hat-trick for the
Rockets, finishing with three goals on four shots.
The Golden Eagles will visit UT Chattanooga on Sept. 17 before
returning to Tech Soccer field to take on UNC Asheville on Sept.
21. Admission to home soccer matches is free.
