COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech soccer team will play its
first two home matches of the season Sept. 5 against Appalachian
State and Sept. 7 against Vanderbilt.
Head coach Becky Fletcher is expecting a close match on Friday
against an 0-0-1 Mountaineer squad.
"Appalachian State should be a lot like Winthrop, another close
game," Fletcher said, comparing the match to Tech's 3-2 loss at
Winthrop on Aug. 29. "Against Winthrop, we got off to a great
start, the girls were flying all over the place."
But after giving up eight goals to Charlotte on Aug. 31, the focus
this week was on defense.
"Today all we worked on was not giving up goals," Fletcher
said.
Friday's match against Appalachian State begins at 4 p.m., and the
Sept. 7 match starts at 1 p.m. Admission to all Tennessee Tech home
soccer matches is free.
