MARTIN, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech soccer team traveled to face
UT Martin on Friday, and came up short in its bid to wrap up a spot
in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, falling to the Skyhawks
1-0.
Heading into the game, Tech was tied with UT Martin in fourth place
in the OVC standings. The top six teams in the OVC will advance to
the conference tournament, which begins Nov. 4 with the no. 3 and 4
seeds hosting the no. 5 and 6 seeds.
The Golden Eagles (4-12-1, 3-3-1) will have another shot to clinch
a birth to the tournament on Sunday when the take on Murray State.
MSU is the current league-leader, and in position to host the OVC
semi-finals and finals. A win Sunday will put Tech in the
tournament, but even if the Golden Eagles lose, they may still end
up with in the top six, and in the tournament.
Tech will return home for a non-conference showdown against
Lipscomb in the season finale on Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. Admission to
games at Tech Soccer Field is free.
