COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After a two-week hiatus from the links, the Tennessee Tech women's golf team will return to play Friday morning, traveling to participate in Ohio Valley Conference rival Eastern Kentucky's 2014 Colonel Classic.
Set to begin Friday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, the 54-hole event will feature 36 holes on the first day of action at the Arlington Golf Club. The par-72, 5,838-yard course will also play host to the final 18 holes of the event on Saturday morning.
The 12-team field features a few recognizable insititutions, including league foes Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State. All the action can be followed via live scoring on golfstat.com.
Here's an alphabetical look at the participating squads:
Golden Eagle freshman Whitney Robertson and sophomore Maddi Everts have been consistent leaders throughout the year, leading the team in scoring average with marks of 78.55 and 78.85, respectively. The two have combined for four top 10 finishes this season while leading the Tech team to three top five finishes.
"Our women have a lot of history at Arlington Golf Club, and we look forward to adding to that this weekend," said head coach Polk Brown. "It's a great golf course and should yield some great chances for solid scores. The last couple of weeks have been good for the girls to recharge the batteries and work on their games. This team is ready to make a run as we edge closer and closer to the OVC Championship."
