Climbing higher, Tech women’s basketball ranked 17th in Mid-Major poll

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – In the most recent poll conducted by collegeinsider.com, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team has improved to 17th in the nation in the NCAA Women's Basketball Mid-Major Top 25.

"I'm excited to be ranked 17th in the Mid-Major Poll," head coach Sytia Messer said. "It's good exposure for the OVC and Tennessee Tech."
Sporting a 18-4 record and currently sitting in first place in the Ohio Valley Conference, this is Tennessee Tech's third straight week in the poll. The Golden Eagles, who ranked 21st in last week's poll, moved up four spots after a pair of home wins against Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State.

TTU is the OVC's lone representative in the poll, receiving 252 points. Of the 25 teams in the poll, the Golden Eagles have faced only Middle Tennessee (12/1), which saw the Blue Raiders come out with the 71-58 victory at Eblen Center. In its four losses on the season, Tech's opponents have a combined record of 66-27.

Tech (18-4, 12-1 OVC) begins a two-game road trip Thursday against Murray State. Opening tip is set for 5:15 p.m. CT.
