Tech women selected for seventh place OVC finish

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Eastern Illinois has been selected to win the 2007-08 Ohio Valley Conference women's basketball title in a preseason poll of the league's head coaches and sports information directors, while the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles are pegged for a seventh place showing.

The Panthers received six first place votes and 149 points while Murray State claimed eight first-place nods and 144 points. Southeast Missouri (129 pts.) and Tennessee State (124 pts.) split the remaining six first-place votes for third and fourth place finishes, respectively. Rounding out the poll were Jacksonville State (88 pts.), Morehead State (86 pts.), Tennessee Tech (66 pts.), Eastern Kentucky (59 pts.), Austin Peay (32 pts.) and UT Martin (26 pts).
