Tech hits the road for doubleheaders at EIU and SIUE
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It’s a big weekend for the Tennessee Tech softball team as the Golden Eagles square off with two of the top teams in the Ohio Valley Conference standings as Tech travels to Eastern Illinois on Saturday, then takes on SIUE on Sunday.
Tech (14-25, 5-7 in OVC play) currently stands in eighth, which would take the last spot in the conference tournament if the season ended today. Meanwhile, the Panthers (28-11, 7-3 OVC) and the Cougars (17-14, 7-3 OVC) are currently in a tie for third in the league standings, trailing Jacksonville State (24-16, 11-1 OVC) and Eastern Kentucky (25-14, 7-1 OVC).

McCulley homers, but Tech falls to Lipscomb
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – In the Tennessee Tech softball team’s final non-conference game of the season, the Golden Eagles couldn’t get enough timely hits to keep pace with visiting Lipscomb, falling 5-1 on Wednesday.
Tech was held to three hits as Chloe Yeager (6-1) earned the victory, walking none and striking out one as she yielded one run.

Sparks named OVC Player of the Week
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team may have only played in two games this weekend, but it’s tough to ignore the day sophomore outfielder Raegan Sparks had in the doubleheader on Friday.
Her efforts took the majority of the first-place votes as the Ohio Valley Conference’s softball contacts named Sparks the league’s adidas® Player of the Week on Monday.

Sparks hits three HR, Thomas a walk-off HR as Tech sweeps Murray State
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Friday may have been Friday the 13th, but the only date that was scaring the Tennessee Tech softball coming into the doubleheader against Murray State was Feb. 24.
Why that date? The Golden Eagles took a crushing 21-0, five-inning loss to the Racers at the Trojan Classic in Troy, Ala.
And with the Racers coming to Cookeville searching for their first Ohio Valley Conference win of the season and Tech winning three of its last four, the twinbill appeared to be the definition of a trap game.
But with the way Tech was hitting, the Golden Eagles were determined to keep the Racers (10-29, 0-10 OVC) behind the starting gate.

Waldrop named Pitcher of the Week by Tennessee Sports Writers Association
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Another day, another honor for Tennessee Tech senior pitcher Taylor Waldrop. After being named the Ohio Valley Conference's Pitcher of the Week on Monday, the Canon, Ga., native earned the same honor from the Tennessee Sports Writers Association on Tuesday.
Waldrop pitched back-to-back shutouts in her first career OVC starts, the first shutouts in her career. She worked five scoreless innings against Tennessee State in a run-ruled, 8-0 victory as she allowed four hits, no walks and three strikeouts.

Waldrop named OVC Pitcher of the Week
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – There’s no question that the Tennessee Tech softball team was looking forward to when senior ace Taylor Waldrop could return to the lineup.
And when she did, what an impact she made – collecting her first two career shutouts in her first two Ohio Valley Conference starts.
With that, Waldrop was an easy selection this week as the OVC’s Pitcher of the Week, as voted on by the league’s sports information contacts.

Waldrop gets second straight shutout as Tech splits with Belmont
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Taylor Waldrop found herself in an unusual situation during the beginning of the Ohio Valley Conference schedule.
Injured, the senior Tennessee Tech pitcher could only just sit back and watch as her teammates took tough defeats in the first three weekends of the league slate, coming back to Cookeville with an 0-6 record in OVC play.
That changed on Friday as Waldrop pitched her first career shutout over Tennessee State to give Tech its first league win, then again on Sunday as Waldrop held off Belmont on Sunday in a 3-0 victory, throwing her second straight shutout to increase her career total to the same number.

Hughes and Waldrop pitch gems, Thomas powers for hits as Tech sweeps TSU
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It’s easy to say that Tennessee Tech’s two softball wins on Friday over Tennessee State couldn’t have come at a better time.
But for head coach Bonnie Bynum Graham, it just vindicated what she’s been seeing from her team all season long as the Golden Eagles run-ruled the Tigers 8-0 in five innings in the first game, then took a 3-1 victory in the second.

Softball hosts Tennessee State on Friday, Belmont Sunday
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It could be a chilly, wet weekend in Cookeville, but the Tennessee Tech softball team is shifting its schedule around to get games in this weekend as it hosts Tennessee State on Friday and Belmont on Sunday.
The series against the Tigers was originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon, but now holds a 12:30 p.m. start on Friday. The series against the Bruins remains at its originally scheduled 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. start times on Sunday.
The games are currently planned for streaming video broadcast on the OVC Digital Network, weather permitting, with Dylan Vazzano providing the call.

Tech softball falls in doubleheader at Austin Peay
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Gabby LaSala went 4-for-6 from the plate on Friday as she tried to get the bats going for the Tennessee Tech softball team, but the streaking Austin Peay team got the upper hand, taking both games 7-2 and 2-1.
Tech (9-23, 0-6 Ohio Valley Conference) is idle for the rest of the Easter holiday weekend, returning to action on Saturday, April 7, as the Golden Eagles host Tennessee State and try to snap a seven-game losing streak.

Tech softball heads to Austin Peay for OVC doubleheader
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – It may be a rainy day in Clarksville today, but there’s still softball tentatively on the schedule for Friday as the Tennessee Tech softball team will make its way there to take on Austin Peay.
The Governors have an 18-9 record thus far in the 2018 campaign, including a 3-1 mark in Ohio Valley Conference play after sweeping Morehead State and splitting with Eastern Kentucky last weekend.

Tech rallies come up short at UT Martin
MARTIN, Tenn. – UT Martin scored nine runs through the first four innings on Sunday as the Tennessee Tech softball team attempted to rally back in both ends of the doubleheader against the Skyhawks.
Tech (9-21, 0-4 Ohio Valley Conference) lost 9-4 in the opener, then dropped a 3-2 decision in the closer.

Tech softball falls to SEMO to open OVC play
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Senior Bayli Cruse knocked in three of Tennessee Tech’s four runs on Friday as the Golden Eagle softball team opened Ohio Valley Conference play with Southeast Missouri taking both ends of the doubleheader.
The Redhawks (18-10, 2-0 OVC) defeated Tech 5-1 in the opener, then 4-3 in the nightcap.

Griffin grand slam helps Tech earn split in final day of Tiger Classic
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team earned a walk-off win on Sunday over Eastern Michigan, then attempted to rally against home-standing Memphis in the final day of the Memphis Tiger Classic, collecting a split as the Golden Eagles return home.
The Golden Eagles beat Eastern Michigan 5-4, then fell 5-1 to Memphis.

Tech falls twice at Memphis Tiger Classic
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After the first day of action was washed out at the Memphis Tiger Classic, the Tennessee Tech softball team had a hard time getting the bats connecting on Saturday, taking losses to Southeast Missouri and Memphis.
The Golden Eagles (8-16) fell 7-3 to Southeast Missouri in the day’s opener, then 8-0 in six innings to host Memphis in the second game of the day.

Weather cancels Friday play at Memphis Tiger Classic, schedule updated
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Weather ended up wreaking havoc with Friday’s first day of the Memphis Tiger Classic, cancelling the day’s action.
The updated schedule now has the Tennessee Tech softball team opening tournament play on Saturday against Ohio Valley Conference foe Southeast Missouri at 8 a.m., followed by Memphis at 10:15 a.m.

Golden Eagle softball closes out tournament play at Memphis Tiger Classic
UPDATE 2 (1:31 p.m. 3/16/18) -- With rain continuing in the Memphis area on Friday, Tech's game against Memphis has been cancelled. Schedule updates will be provided when available.
UPDATE (8:00 a.m. 3/16/18) -- The scheduled game against Southeast Missouri has been postponed to Sunday at 2:45 p.m. Tech will only face host Memphis at 11 a.m. on Friday.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – With a five-game winning streak in tow, the Tennessee Tech softball team is starting to feel a lot more confident, and that gives the Golden Eagles an opportunity to show what they’re capable this weekend as they head to Memphis to compete in the Memphis Tiger Classic.
Weather for this weekend’s five-game set does appear favorable, with a slight chance of scattered thunderstorms on Friday morning and late evening, but fairly clear for most of the weekend.

Tech softball stretches win streak to five, sweeps Rhode Island
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The ways the Tennessee Tech softball team got its wins on Tuesday may have been dramatic, but the only thing the Golden Eagles cared about was getting the sweep over Rhode Island.
Tech stretched its winning streak to five games as the Golden Eagles beat the visiting Rams 2-1 in game one, then rallied for an 8-7 victory in the nightcap.

The Rams, out of the Atlantic 10 Conference, come into Cookeville with a 1-11 record, following a trip to Murray, Ky., for the Racer Classic. URI has lost its last 10 games, its lone victory coming on Feb. 17 against Mount St. Mary’s at Elon, N.C.

Tech softball sweeps Presbyterian College, wins third in a row
CLINTON, S.C. – Some timely hits for the Tennessee Tech softball team came through on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Eagles were able to take two games on the road to sweep Presbyterian College and create a three-game winning streak.
Tech (6-14) won the first game 8-5 in eight innings, then held on for a 5-4 victory in the second.

Tech softball playing three at Presbyterian College this weekend
CLINTON, S.C. – After opening its home slate last weekend, it’s back on the road again for the Tennessee Tech softball team as they head to South Carolina to close out their Spring Break with a visit to Presbyterian College on Saturday and Sunday.
Tech will play a three-game series against the Blue Hose, starting with an 11-1 doubleheader on Saturday, then a single game on Sunday.

Softball vs. Lipscomb rescheduled for April 18
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- With a forecast of cool temperatures and cloudy conditions, the Tennessee Tech softball team has agreed with Lipscomb to postpone Wednesday's scheduled game to a later date.
Tech will now host the Lady Bisons on Wednesday, April 18, at 5 p.m.
The Golden Eagles will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Presbyterian College for a twinbill starting at noon Central.

Sparks drives in seven, Hughes gets first win as Tech splits with Samford
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It was Raegan Sparks’ day at the plate as she led the Tennessee Tech softball team to a split against Samford on Sunday afternoon as she went 4-for-7 with seven RBI and her fifth home run of the season.
Kayla Hughes picked up her first win of the season in the day’s nightcap, pitching the complete game as she allowed four earned runs on 10 hits, striking out two in the Golden Eagles’ 9-5 win over the Bulldogs.

Golden Eagles swept at Appalachian State
BOONE, N.C. – In both games Saturday, the Tennessee Tech softball team struck to take the lead on Appalachian State, but the homestanding Mountaineers had the last laugh, rallying in both contests to hand Tech a 3-2 defeat in game one and a 10-8 loss in the nightcap.
Tech (3-13) will make the trek back to Cookeville on Saturday night, then will try to take a pair of games against Samford on Sunday afternoon, starting at 2 p.m., to try to open the home slate on a high note.

Golden Eagles travel to Appalachian State Saturday, host Samford Sunday
BOONE, N.C. – After three weeks of tournaments, the Tennessee Tech softball team takes a quick break from the tournament schedule with a short jaunt over to Appalachian State for two games on Saturday, then return home on Sunday for the rescheduled games against Samford for the Golden Eagles’ home opener.
The game times on Saturday against the Mountaineers are 12 and 2 p.m., while the times at home against the Bulldogs are 2 and 4 p.m.

TROY, Ala. – After a run-rule loss to No. 16-ranked Ole Miss to start the day, the Tennessee Tech softball team had a chance to knock off Trojan Classic host Troy in the second game of the day, but the rally fell short as the Golden Eagles fell 3-2 on Friday afternoon.
Tech (2-9) dropped a 12-2 decision to the Rebels in the first game.

Rain shortens Tech's chances in last day at Chattanooga Challenge
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The threat of rain permeated the day Saturday, but it ended up costing Tech as the Golden Eagles started to build momentum against Sacred Heart as the game was called after posting a four-spot on the scoreboard, falling 10-4 in five innings to close out play in the Chattanooga Challenge.
Tech (2-7) also dropped the day’s first game against Indiana State 7-4.

Cruse's 5 RBI leads Tech softball to second straight win
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Bayli Cruse’s bat sent several balls into the outfield like cruise missiles on Friday as the Tennessee Tech softball team picked up its second straight win, toppling the Hilltoppers 7-6 in the second day of the Chattanooga Challenge.
Cruse went 3-for-4 in Tech’s lone game of the day, driving in five runs with a three-run home run and a two-run single. Cruse also scored twice as the Golden Eagles improved to 2-4 on the young season.

Golden Eagles notch first win, beating Western Kentucky at Chattanooga Challenge
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – One down, many more to go as the Tennessee Tech softball team would hope as the Golden Eagles earned their first win of the season with a 9-5 victory over Western Kentucky on Thursday in the first day of the Chattanooga Challenge.
The day started with a 7-5 loss to host Chattanooga as it rallied from a 5-0 deficit with two runs in the second and five in the fourth to overcome the Golden Eagles’ hot start.

Originally slated to begin action in the Chattanooga Challenge tournament on Friday, the forecast has prompted the tournament to start a day earlier, with the Golden Eagles taking the field on Thursday, taking on Chattanooga at 2 p.m. Central, followed by a contest against Western Kentucky at approximately 4 p.m.

The Golden Eagles (0-4) saw Marshall rally then take a commanding 10-4 victory in the first game, then Tech had no answer for No. 13 Auburn in the second game, falling 18-0 in five innings.

Golden Eagles see positives despite Opening Day losses
AUBURN, Ala. – The first day of the Plainsman Invitational may not have gone exactly the way the Tennessee Tech softball team had planned, but despite two losses, the Golden Eagles did have positives during their first day of action.
Tech (0-2) saw Wichita State hold off a late rally for a 6-4 victory in the first game, then No. 13-ranked Auburn blanked the Golden Eagles 3-0 in the second game.

Tech softball opens season Friday against Wichita State, No. 13 Auburn
AUBURN, Ala. – The groundhog may have called for six more weeks of winter, but as far as the Tennessee Tech softball team is concerned, spring is here.
The Golden Eagles open their 2018 campaign on Friday morning as they compete in the Plainsman Invitational, hosted by Southeastern Conference foe and No. 13-ranked Auburn. It will be a return trip there for Tech, after facing the host Tigers there in the 2015 NCAA regionals.

Golden Eagle softball opens season on Feb. 9
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Four regular-season tournaments, five non-conference series and an always competitive Ohio Valley Conference race greets the Tennessee Tech softball team as they open the 2018 campaign on Feb. 9.
The Golden Eagles, who were projected to finish 10th in the OVC preseason poll released earlier this morning, will get tested early as Tech will take on some great competition early on.

Championship Softball Holiday Mini Camp to be held in December
The Championship Softball Holiday Mini Camp, featuring Tennessee Tech head coach Bonnie Bynum Graham as well as collegiate head and assistant coaches from Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior colleges, will be held between December 29-31 at Tennessee Tech's Hyder-Burks Agricultural Pavilion.
The schedule includes a mini-camp on Dec. 29 and 30, a recruiting seminar on Dec. 29 and a pitching and catching clinic on Dec. 31.

Golden Eagles' season ends with loss to EKU
OXFORD, Ala. – Gabby LaSala started the game with an exclamation, but Eastern Kentucky responded in force as the Colonels scored in every inning, including six in the third inning as EKU run-ruled the Golden Eagles 11-2 in five innings to end Tech’s season.
The Golden Eagles (16-30) had a lead-off home run from LaSala to give Tech its first run in the opening frame, but the Colonels countered with a run as Johnkyria Alston singled up the middle to drive in Krislyn Campos.

Golden Eagles edged by UTM in tourney opener
OXFORD, Ala. – Danielle Liberatore wasn’t going to give up.
As a senior heading into her final showing in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament at Choccolocco Park, Liberatore put forward the best effort she could on Wednesday afternoon.
Unfortunately, UT Martin wasn’t going to let the Golden Eagles’ bats wake up.
A home run from Jamie Duncan in the second inning was all that the Skyhawks needed as Brooke Kennedy shut out Tech 1-0 in the opening round of the tournament.

Richards named to All-OVC First Team
OXFORD, Ala. – There was no question that senior Alyssa Richards has been one of the driving forces of the Tennessee Tech softball team in 2017, but she received some recognition of that as she was selected to the all-Ohio Valley Conference softball first-team roster on Tuesday night.
Richards ended the regular-season campaign with a .295 batting average as she drove in a team-high 23 RBI with seven home runs and eight doubles to pace her team-best 67 total bases.

Golden Eagles take aim on OVC tournament title
OXFORD, Ala. – When it gets to this time of year, what happened in the regular season fades into a distant memory. To move on to the next step, all that matters is wins.
As the eight competing teams in this week's Ohio Valley Conference softball tournament converge on Oxford's Choccolocco Park, that though is certainly on their minds, because only one team will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals, the others are done for the year.

Tech softball claims OVC tournament berth, will face UT Martin Wednesday
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- As the Ohio Valley Conference softball season drew to a close on Saturday, the Tennessee Tech softball team will get its chance to earn another OVC tournament crown as the Golden Eagles received a berth in the postseason tournament.
Tech claimed the No. 7-seed in the tournament, which begins on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles will open play with a 12:30 p.m. contest against No. 2-seed UT Martin.

Weather cancels TTU-JSU softball series, seniors honored
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The weather may have dampened the field at Tennessee Tech’s softball stadium, but it wasn’t going to rain on the team’s Senior Day celebration.
The doubleheader against Jacksonville State was cancelled, ending Tech’s regular season at 16-28, 8-8 in Ohio Valley Conference play. The bracket for next week’s OVC Tournament in Oxford, Ala., will be announced this weekend following the conclusion of the entire regular-season slate.

But the Golden Eagles are going to have to get through league-leading Jacksonville State first. Tech (16-28, 8-8 OVC) will face the Gamecocks in a twinbill on Friday, starting at 1 p.m. Inclement weather could play a factor in Friday’s contests, so updates will be made when available.

Tech softball splits at Morehead State
MOREHEAD, Ky. – A seven-run third inning was enough to propel the Tennessee Tech softball team to an 8-6 victory over Morehead State on Sunday, but the Golden Eagles weren’t able to complete the sweep as the home-standing Eagles won 5-3 in the finale.

Golden Eagles fall twice at Eastern Kentucky
RICHMOND, Ky. -- Late efforts by Eastern Kentucky spoiled Tennessee Tech's try at an Ohio Valley Conference win on Saturday as the Colonels took both ends of the twinbill, beating the Golden Eagles 3-2 in 10 innings in game one, then won 8-3 in game two.
Danielle Liberatore (7-9) took the loss in the opener as she allowed three runs on 11 hits in 9 1/3 innings of work, walking two and striking out nine.

Tech softball travels to EKU, Morehead
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team closes out the road portion of its regular-season schedule this weekend as the Golden Eagles head to Eastern Kentucky on Saturday and Morehead State on Sunday.
Tech (15-25, 7-5 Ohio Valley Conference) hasn’t played a game since April 19 as last weekend’s games against SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois were cancelled with inclement weather. Following the weather woes, the Golden Eagles now see their standing in the OVC in sixth place out of eight teams that make the conference tournament in two weeks.

Both dates are doubleheaders, with first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m. With inclement weather expected in the Cookeville area this weekend, the schedule could be subject to change.

Tech softball run-rules Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- A six-run second inning was all the Tennessee Tech softball team needed to jump-start its offense on Wednesday as the Golden Eagles cruised to an 8-0, five-inning victory over Chattanooga.
Seven different Golden Eagles recorded hits and grabbed RBI in the contest. Demi Coleman led the offense with two hits, while Bayli Cruse drove in two runs.

Tech softball splits at Murray State
MURRAY, Ky. – In both games Friday, the Tennessee Tech softball team collected clutch hits to tie Murray State late and send the contests into extra innings.
But once the games got there, each one went in separate directions as the Golden Eagles added two runs in the eighth inning of game one to take a 3-2 victory, then the Racers collected a walk-off run in the bottom of the eighth in game two to earn a 3-2 win of their own.

Samford uses the long ball to stop Golden Eagles
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Home runs had been the Tennessee Tech softball team’s bread-and-butter for most of the season.
On Wednesday, Samford flipped the script and gave the Golden Eagles a taste of their own medicine.
The visiting Bulldogs knocked out three homers in a 5-1 decision in game one, then used a three-run blast in game two to pace Samford to a 9-1 victory in five innings.

Tech softball splits with Austin Peay in marathon twinbill
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – For the longest team, it looked like both the Tennessee Tech and Austin Peay softball teams were going to battle infinitely on.
As time wore on, both teams kept battling – Tech taking an early 5-0 lead, then the Governors storming back to tie the game in the seventh inning, forcing extra innings.
But it was in the 10th when the Golden Eagles were able to prevail, taking a 6-5 victory in the contest, one that lasted nearly four hours.
However, Austin Peay was able to preserve a share of the doubleheader split, taking the second contest 1-0 on Saturday.

KENNESAW, Ga. – Hallie Davis and Alyssa Richards provided the firepower on Friday as the Tennessee Tech softball team defeated East Tennessee State 8-6 in eight innings to open up the Owl Challenge at Kennesaw State.
Davis and Richards each went yard for the Golden Eagles (5-15) with the sophomore transfer Davis knocking two out of the park. The duo combined for seven RBI in the contest, Richards with four and Davis with three.

STILLWATER, Okla. – Aalia Bivens hit a three-run home run to provide a spark of offense for the Tennessee Tech softball team on Sunday as the Golden Eagles tried to overcome a deficit against Abilene Christian before falling 10-5 in their finale at the Mizuno Classic.
Bivens' home run was her first of the season and the team's 20th of the season.

Tech softball set to open season at Eagle Round Robin

Tech softball picked fifth in OVC preseason poll
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – A fifth-place preseason projection in the Ohio Valley Conference softball poll will present itself as a challenge for the Tennessee Tech team in the 2017 season.

Six home doubleheaders among 2017 softball slate
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – A tough non-conference schedule and an always-tough Ohio Valley Conference slate awaits the Tennessee Tech softball team as the Golden Eagles get set to open play on Feb. 10.
“It feels like it gets here quicker every year,” said TTU head coach Bonnie Bynum Graham, “but we’re excited to get going.”
Included on the preliminary 50-game schedule are five tournaments before the conference slate begins, including games against Tennessee, Middle Tennessee, Chattanooga, UConn, Oklahoma State and Michigan State.

Perez leads supply drive, named September Unsung Leader
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – As a member of the Tennessee Tech softball team, Gabby Perez is used to playing a role In the community as part of the program’s many community outreach efforts.
But after flooding struck her home state of Louisiana, the senior infielder made a decision to try to help those in need.
Her efforts, along with those she has done in the community, made her a runaway choice for the September Unsung Leader award, the first of the 2016-17 academic year.

Lori Bayless to be enshrined in TTU Sports Hall of Fame in Class of 2016
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – There’s no question one of the most dominant eras of Tennessee Tech athletics came in the early 2000s as the Golden Eagle softball team built up a foundation that the program still stands by to this day. One of the cornerstones of that foundation was pitcher Lori Bayless, who dominated in the Ohio Valley Conference during her career.

The Tennessee Tech softball team (23-32, 14-13 OVC) fell to Eastern Kentucky (36-15, 17-8 OVC) in game one of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament on Wednesday. The Colonels defeated the Golden Eagles 3-0 in the one-hit shutout, notching one run in the second and two in the sixth.

Golden Eagles edge Winthrop in nine innings; UConn game suspended
Tennessee Tech rallied late in the game, then overcame a couple of Winthrop rallies that each forced extra innings as the Golden Eagles claimed 5-4 victory Saturday in nine innings in the team's first game of the day at the Bulldog Classic. The game with UConn was suspended in the third inning, and will be resumed Sunday at 11 a.m.

Golden Eagles look to improve record at Georgia Softball Classic
The Tennessee Tech softball team travels to Athens, Ga., this weekend to take part in a six-team tournament hosted by No. 14 Georgia. The Golden Eagles are scheduled to play five games in three days, concluding Sunday with a game against the nationally ranked Bulldogs.
