COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It takes a lot of hard work and determination to reach the collegiate softball level and the Tennessee Tech softball coaches are looking to help a new group make that push.

In August, Tech head coach Bonnie Bynum Graham, with the assistance of current and former Golden Eagle players will host the Championship Softball Summer Mini Camp at the Tech Softball Complex.

The pitching and catching clinic will be held on Friday, Aug. 11, with registration from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m, followed by the clinic from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The pitching portion will cover in-depth instruction in mechanics, pitches and the mental aspects of the game, while the catching portion will cover blocking, throwing, framing, pitch calling and how to work with the pitcher and umpire.

The cost for the clinic is $75 for early registration (through Aug. 1) or $100 at the door.

The mini-camp will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, and Sunday, Aug. 13, and is designed to allow players to gain valuable knowledge and skills, as well as be evaluated by a variety of college colleges from different levels. Instruction will feature individual and small group work to develop skills for athletes of all ages. Athletes will be grouped according to age and ability level.

Campers are required to bring a glove, cleats, tennis shoes, water bottle, lunch and enthusiasm.

The fee for the mini-camp is $150 for early registration (through Aug. 1) or $175 at the door. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt.

To attend both events, the cost is $160 through pre-registration or $200 at the door.

Family and team discounts are available, as well as a 10-percent team discount with five or more players. There is also a 10-percent family discount for each additional family member, but only one discount will be allowed per player.

The camp is operated by the Tech softball coaches. While the camp is held on Tech's campus, it is not owned nor operated by the university.
