Golden Eagle softball team heads to Chattanooga for Frost Classic
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After a rough outing at the Sleep Inn Classic in Denton, Texas, the Tennessee Tech softball team will look to get back on track as it heads to Chattanooga, Tenn. for the Frost Classic. The three-day tournament begins Friday.
Tech will square off against five teams at the Frost Classic including IUPUI, Northern Iowa, Toledo, Northwestern State and East Tennessee State.
Tech (1-6) squares of against a pair of opponents Friday in IUPUI and Northern Iowa with game times scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles own a combined 4-3 record against the Jaguars and Panthers. Presently IUPUI owns a 4-4 record, while Northern Iowa has yet to lose going 5-0 on the season
Day two of the Sleep Inn Classic will see Tech face a pair of opponents in Toledo and Northwestern State with game times set at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tech is 2-2 all-time against Toledo and 0-2 against Northwestern State, including a 2-1 loss last week at the Sleep Inn Classic. This will be the Rockets first action of the 2011 season, while the Lady Demons have compiled an 8-5 record.
Tech wraps up the Sleep Inn Classic Sunday as it takes on the East Tennessee State Buccaneers at 10 a.m. Tech is 11-3 all-time against the Buccaneers including an 11-1 win last season. ETSU is currently 1-5 on the season.
Last week the Golden Eagles finished the Sleep Inn Classic with a 1-4 record, with its only win coming against Centenary. In five of its six losses on the season, Tech has lost by only one run.
