Golden Eagles shut out visiting Chattanooga State
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - After having both of its games rained out yesterday, the Tennessee Tech softball team returned to action on Sunday afternoon at the Tech softball fields. The Golden Eagles were slated to take on Motlow and Lipscomb on Saturday before the games were washed out.
"It was nice to get a chance to play today," said head coach Tory Acheson. "It was a chance to measure ourselves."
Tech took on Chattanooga State - a top junior college program - in a game at 1 p.m. on Sunday before playing the visitors in a situational game at 3 p.m. The Golden Eagles captured the victory in Sunday's game, 2-0. It was the fourth game that Tech has played this fall, all of which have been shutouts for the Golden Eagles who have yet to allow a run. The situational game provided a chance for Acheson to coach through specific situations that his team will encounter this spring.
"Situational games are nice because we get to work on how to play with runners in scoring position and other situations that we will see," Acheson said. "It allowed us to see what we need to work on."
The Golden Eagles will likely add a few more games to their fall schedule because of Saturday's rainouts. Check back to TTUsports.com for more information.
