John now is in his junior year at Tech and looks to help bring momentum to the squad...was a leading force for his team during high school action...named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in recognition of his work in the classroom.
AT TECH (In 2011): John had a breakthrough junior season, lowering his career-best 8K time by nearly two minutes within a year’s time...led the Golden Eagles in all seven races during the fall season...improved throughout the season, posting new career-best times in six of the seven meets...began the season with a bang, setting a new PR with a time of 27:41 at Sewanee...lowered that time by more than 40 seconds in his second meet at Georgia State, running a 26:59...lowered his time by 20 seconds at TTU, then by 11 at Jacksonville State and ran his current PR of 26:17 at Evansville...led Tech and set a new 10K PR at the NCAA South Regional with a time of 33:27.
(In 2010): John ran in all six meets, and proved to be a strong runner...opened the season at Sewanee placing second on the squad...also placed third on the team in two other races, at Western Kentucky and Furman...achieved a season-best time of 28:00.09 at Evansville.
(In 2009): John opened his Tech career by
placing fifth on the team in 29:44.06 at the Sewanee
Invitational...went on to run in five meets as a freshman and broke
the 30-minute mark two more times...clocked in at 29:27.90 t the
TTU Invitational and finished with a career-best 29:15.59 at the
HIGH SCHOOL: John attended William Blount High School in Maryville, where he competed with the Wildcats for Coach Chris Frary...he lettered four times apiece in both cross country and track...twice named Most Valuable Runner and also named to the All-Region team in cross country...best 5K time is 16:52, 3,200m: 9:56, 1,600m: 4:31, 800m: 2:00, 400m: 55 seconds...also lettered one year in tennis.
PERSONAL: The son Mitch and Susan Greene...born April 20, 1991...full name is John Wesley Greene...majoring in engineering.
