Girling, Chen, Eremeev and Kirstein earn all-OVC honors

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Behind a third place finish in the Ohio Valley Conference regular season, four members of the Tennessee Tech men’s tennis team have received all-OVC nods, with Josh Girling being named to the all-OVC first team and Alex Chen, Vasily Eremeev and Justin Kirstein being named second-team.

The teams were voted on by the head coaches from the OVC.
Girling led the Golden Eagles in singles wins with a 16-11 record, including a 5-5 mark in No. 2 singles matches. He also added nine doubles victories to his season totals, four of which came in OVC play.
Chen shouldered the majority of the No. 1 slot during the season, as he built an 8-5 record, with all eight victories coming in the No. 1 singles matches. He also finished with a 4-2 singles record in OVC play and totaled six doubles victories, five of which came teamed with Kirstein.
In his first season at Tech, Eremeev tallied a 9-6 singles record, including a team-high six singles victories, with the bulk of his work coming in the No. 4 singles matches. He also added five doubles victories to his season total, of which four came in OVC play.
Kirstein finished the season second on the team in singles victories with 12, with five of his wins coming in No. 3 singles matches. He led the team in doubles victories with 10, which included a 4-3 mark in conference duals.
As the No. 3 seed in the OVC Tournament, the Golden Eagles will take on Murray State in Paducah, Ky., Friday, at 2 p.m.
