Golden Eagle tennis squad picked to finish second in OVC preseason poll

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle tennis team was picked to finish in second place in the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference men’s tennis race. Three Golden Eagles were ranked in the Top 10 Player Rankings including Alex Chen (3), Josh Girling (4) and Justin Kirstein (t10). The polls are conducted by the head coaches from the OVC.

Eastern Kentucky was picked to finish first in the preseason poll receiving seven first-place votes en route to 49 points. Tech followed with 39 points, receiving one first-place votes. Jacksonville State came in third with 33 points, while Austin Peay followed close behind in fourth with 32 points.
Rounding out the poll are Murray State (25 points), Morehead State (22 points), Eastern Illinois (13 points) and Tennessee State (seven points).
The Golden Eagles head to Atlanta Saturday, for a match against Georgia State, at 12 p.m.
