COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The earliest start to the spring in the Polk Brown era, the Tennessee Tech men's golf team will kick off the second half of its season Saturday afternoon, making the trip south for The Invitational at Savannah Harbor.
THE INVITATIONAL AT SAVANNAH HARBOR: Feb. 17-18, 2017 – 54 holes (36 Saturday, 18 Sunday), located at The Club at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Ga. Teams will kick off with a shotgun start on Saturday.
THE COMPETITION: The 16-team field consists of host William & Mary, as well as Austin Peay, Belmont, Bethune-Cookman, Brown, Butler, Florida A&M, Fort Wayne, North Dakota State, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Omaha, Savannah State, South Carolina Beaufort, Tennessee Tech and Valparaiso.
THOUGHTS FROM COACH BROWN: "The guys have been looking forward to getting back out and competing ever since the tournament in Murfreesboro back in October. The weather since the semester started has been a challenge, but our guys have kept great attitudes and put in a lot of good work. We are excited to get down to Savannah and play in a new event. We are ready for the challenge."
WHAT TO WATCH FOR: The Golden Eagles head into the spring season with a significant amount of momentum on their side. Tech wrapped up the fall with back-to-back second place finishes at the Samford Intercollegiate and MTSU Intercollegiate. Freshman Will Brooks turned in two top-10 finishes in that span, including his first career All-Tournament nod with a third place showing in Murfreesboro.
