COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Having moved into the No. 2 spot in conference standings after their one-point victory over Eastern Illinois Sunday, the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle men's basketball team will be looking for its third straight OVC victory when it hosts the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri Tuesday night. The opening tip is schedule for 7:30 p.m.
Tech is currently riding a two-game win streak, having hung a 71-point margin of victory on Hiwassee College last Thursday, followed up with Sunday's barn burner against EIU. The team owns a 4-5 overall record.
Southeast Missouri is one of three OVC teams tied in sixth place with a 1-2 conference record. The Redhawks are 2-10 overall, but have also come away victorious in their last two match-ups, splitting wins in both home and road venues. The Redhawks hosted Hannibal-LaGrange in a 101-52 victory, and took down OVC rival Jacksonville State in Alabama, 76-67.
Owning a 28-12 series record over SEMO, Tech hasn't lost to the Redhawks since the 2007-08 season, and has come away with the "W" in 13 of the last 14 meetings. The last time the two faced off, Tech had three players on the current roster put up double figure performances. Junior Kevin Murphy netted 20, while Zach Bailey added 13 and then-freshman Jud Dillard chipped in with 10.
"We're just expecting to keep this momentum going into the game against SEMO," Bailey said, following his performance against EIU, which earned him honors as co-Player of the Game along with senior forward Alfred Jones. "We want to keep coming out working hard and earning the OVC wins."
Tickets are available for Tuesday's games either online or at the TTU Athletics Tickets Office in Eblen Center, or by calling (931-372-3940).
