COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Golden Eagle football fans are invited to help unofficially kick off the 2016 Tennessee Tech football season Thursday evening, as Tennessee Tech hosts the annual Gathering of Eagles at Tucker Stadium beginning at 6 p.m. CT.
The event will once again feature a kid's clinic, as well as the traditional tailgate-style festivities that have grown more popular as the year's have gone on, including a picnic with free food and Pepsi products, football posters, schedule cards and other TTU giveaways.
A 20-minute autographs session, open to all fans on the track near the food tent, will take place prior to the Tech football team taking the field for a game style practice.
In addition to some of the more traditional aspects of the Gathering of Eagles, this year's edition will also feature a surplus sale, offering tons of Tennessee Tech athletics and team gear for sale to the public. Included in the surplus sale will be many of the TTU football jerseys from the past few seasons, with several options available on a first-come first-serve basis.
The Kid's Clinic will kick off the night at approximately 6 p.m., with the line for food and surplus sale also opening at the same time. The team will gather and meet and greet fans during the autographs session approximately five minutes following the conclusion of the clinic.
At 7:20 p.m., the Golden Eagles will take the field for warm-ups and to kick off the practice session for the Tech squad. Practice will conclude at approximately 8:45 p.m. with some final announcements expected to wrap up the evening.
