COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- Marcus Edwards has been included amongst top linebackers expected to have a dominant 2012 season in the Football Championship Subdivision, as announced by College Football Performance Awards (CFPA).
He is one of four Ohio Valley Conference players to be placed on the watch list. This marks his first preseason accolades since the Golden Eagle’s 2011 OVC Championship title.
Edwards was a regular on the field for the Golden Eagles as a linebacker during his junior year, seeing time in all 11 games and earning one start at UT Martin. He finished the year with 41 total tackles, 12 of which were unassisted, and had 9.5 tackles-for-loss for 45 yards to tie for seventh place in the OVC at the season's end. His top performance came against SEMO with seven stops
He had at least two tackles in every game and had two sacks against EKU for 16 yards lost. His five sacks on the season put him at the three-spot in the conference in that category.
Joining Edwards from the OVC are Anthony Brown from Eastern Kentucky, Qua Huzzie from Murray State and Blake Peiffer from Southeast Missouri.
