Will joined the Golden Eagle roster in the summer of 2010 after a transfer from the University of Kentucky...became an immediate impact player on the defense in his first season on the roster as a linebacker...has tremendous quickness and mobility...will have the chance to emerge as a headliner in the secondary...excellent sense for the game... has made one appearance on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

AT TECH (In 2011): Started the first eight games of the season for the Golden Eagles before suffering a knee injury against Murray State on Nov. 5...had 45 tackles on the season and 2.5 tackles-for-loss for nine yards...had a season-high 10 tackles against Tennessee State, including four unassisted stops...had seven stops against Iowa and UT Martin...

AT TECH (In 2010): Will had a huge impact on the Golden Eagle defense in his first season...played in nine games and started eight...came off the bench to play at Arkansas and had a strong debut, working into the stsarting lineup the following week...missed two games (Murray State and Eastern Kentucky) late in the year...returned to start against Jacksonville State...had seven solo tackles and eight total stops including one tackle-for-loss at Arkansas...also broke up a pass against the Razorbacks...career-high nine tackles came in win over Eastern Illinois...also caused a fumble and broke up a pass against the Panthers...seven solo tackles in the victory at Tennessee State...six tackles in win over Jacksonville State...ranked seventh overall on the team with 49 total tackles...had 4.5 tackles-for-loss, three passes defended and two fumbles caused.

BEFORE TECH: Spent his first two collegiate seasons at the University of Kentucky...after a redshirt season in 2008 in which he was named the Most Valuable Defensive Scout Team Player by Kentucky's coaches, Johnson got onto the field in 2009... contributed as a regular on the special teams and in a backup role at weak side linebacker...saw action in all 13 games...increased his size and strength during his time at Kentucky while making the move to linebacker.

HIGH SCHOOL: A standout during his high school career at Nashville's Pearl-Cohn High School...a versatile athlete for coach Tony Brunetti, Johnson played several spots for the Firebirds...in addition to free safety and linebacker on defense, he played wide receiver and tailback on offense, and also excelled at returning punts and kickoffs...speed enabled him to be an effective blitzer, as he had 12 quarterback sacks as a senior, along with 80 tackles and a pair of interceptions...on offense he had 37 catches for 689 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushed 21 times for 350 yards and four TDs...also averaged a phenomenal 35 yards per punt return while helping Pearl-Cohn advance to the Class AAA state semifinals as a junior and senior...named all-city, all-region and second-team all-state as a senior...an Honor Roll student who won the school's English Award, his athletic versatility also showed in other sports as he participated in basketball and baseball in addition to football...in baseball he played a unique combination as both catcher and center fielder.
