Tim Benford named to CFPA preseason watch list of receivers

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- For the second time in a week, Tennessee Tech senior wide receiver Tim Benford has been named as one of the premier wide receivers in the nation. This time, the Chattanooga native has been placed on the 2011 Watch List for the College Football Performance Awards for the Football Championship Subdivision.

A few days ago, The Sports Network recognized Benford among the Top 10 FCS receivers.

The CFPA Watch List of wide receivers includes 38 pass catchers expected to shine in 2011, including four in the Ohio Valley Conference. Fellow league players joining Benford on the list are Chris Wright of Eastern Illinois, Orlandus Davis of Eastern Kentucky and Stephen Shiver of UT Martin.

Benford led Tech and ranked among OVC leaders in receiving in 2010, catching 50 passes for 812 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was named first-team all-OVC for the third consecutive year and captured his second Robert Hill Johnson award.
