COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech is hosting its annual Football Alumni Reunion on Saturday night when the Golden Eagles host Austin Peay in a 7 p.m. Ohio Valley Conference game in Tucker Stadium.

All former players are invited to participate, and are being asked to contact Grant Swallows for details. All former players in attendance will be recognized, and a special presentation will be made for the 50th anniversary of the 1959 OVC championship team.

The activities begin at 4 p.m. with a special football alumni tailgate event under the large tent in the Magic 98.5 Tailgate Park.

"We've had a good response from former players," said Swallows, TTU Associate Athletic Director for Development and a former Golden Eagle quarterback. "There are still many players throughout the region who we would love to hear from, and we hope they will contact us and plan to attend."

The Golden Eagles are 0-1 in the OVC following a tough 17-7 road loss at defending champion Eastern Kentucky two weeks ago. Austin Peay also comes into the contest with an 0-1 league record, so the game will be a pivotal contest for both teams as they attempt to emerge in the victory column.

Tech owns a 25-17 advantage in the all-time series, but the Govs have won twice since returning to the OVC two years ago. Austin Peay claimed a 30-27 victory in Cookeville in 2007 by kicking a field goal on the final play of the game. Last year in Clarksville, Tech rallied in the final minutes to pull within three, but missed a game-tying field goal on the game's final play to lose 31-28.

Interested former players should look over the invitation and RSVP information posted above, and are encouraged to contact Swallows as soon as possible by calling (931) 372-3929.

Tickets for the game are on sale at the Athletics Ticket Office in Eblen Center or by calling 931-372-3940.
