COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech will flip the switch to
light up Tucker Stadium one final time in the 2008 season when the
Golden Eagles host a crucial Ohio Valley Conference game Thursday
night against a UT Martin Skyhawk team that's the top-scoring squad
in the league.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m., and Regions Bank Tailgate Park opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are available at the Athletics Ticket Office in Eblen Center or by calling (931) 372-3940.
Tech moves into the second half of its six-game home schedule and plays the final night contest on Overall Field. The Golden Eagles are 2-1 this year at home under the lights, with two afternoon games in November left on the home agenda.
Second-year coach Watson Brown's Golden Eagles are 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the OVC after a 51-21 setback at Murray State last Saturday. The Skyhawks, who have scored 300 points in seven games this year, are 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the league. UT Martin claimed a 29-26 win over Eastern Illinois last Thursday night.
The game will be the first of three consecutive games for Tech in the second annual battle for the Sgt. York Trophy, an award created last year to develop the rivalries between the OVC's four Tennessee schools. Following the game against UT Martin, Tech faces road tests at Austin Peay (Oct. 25) and Tennessee State (Nov. 1) to finish off the Sgt. York series.
Fans who cannot attend the game have several options to follow the action. The game is being televised live by WCTE TV to the mid-state region, and will also be streamed live on OVCsports.TV. The broadcast of the game on the Golden Eagle Sports Network, featuring Roger Ealey and Dan Hees, can be heard on the radio, the Internet and on the phone. The game will also feature live stats on TTUsports. com, and can also be followed on ESPN.com.
