Golden Eagles face Louisville for first time since 1961
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- For the first time since John F. Kennedy's
first year in office, the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle football team
will face the Louisville Cardinals. Tech and Louisville are set to
tangle Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CDT in Papa John's Cardinal
Stadium.
As part of the festivities, the Tennessee Tech Alumni Relations
Office is hosting a pregame tailgate party next to the stadium,
beginning at noon CDT.
Tech and Louisville have met twice before, way back in 1960 and
1961. Tech won the first meeting in Cookeville, and the Cardinals
evened the series at 1-1 with a win in Louisville in 1961.
The Golden Eagles are 1-0 following a season-opening 28-12 win over
Gardner-Webb last Thursday in front of 12,228 fans in Tucker
Stadium. Louisville, meanwhile, lost its opener to Kentucky, 27-2,
in Louisville last Saturday.
