Honea, Miles receive adidas OVC Pitcher of the Week, Player of Week honors
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Awards are starting to pile up for the Tennessee Tech baseball team, as not one, but two Golden Eagles received all-Ohio Valley Conference honors Monday afternoon. It marked the fourth consecutive week a Tech player was honored by the league.
For the second time in three weeks, junior Daniel Miles found his name among those honored by the OVC, being named adidas co-Player of the Week. Miles set the tone for the Golden Eagle offense Tuesday evening, driving in the first two runs of a 10-9 upset win over No. 2 Vanderbilt in Nashville.
Miles also clubbed his eighth home run of the year over the weekend, crushing a two-run shot at Jacksonville State to tie Friday's contest at 5-5. The third baseman finished the week 7-for-17 with a .412 batting average and three runs scored. Miles drove in six runs while slugging .588 and recording an on-base percentage of .444.
The junior leads the Golden Eagles in batting average (.368) and on-base percentage (.445). He has put up 39 RBI while slugging .647 and scoring 29 runs in 36 games this season.
A sophomore from Tullahoma, Tenn., Jacob Honea grabbed adidas co-Pitcher of the Week honors after a career-performance against Jacksonville State Sunday afternoon. The right hander tossed 8.1 innings of shutout ball, scattering six hits and striking out six batters while walking zero Gamecock batters. He also retired 15 consecutive Jax State batters from the third inning to the ninth.
Honea earned his second win of the season with the victory while lowering his ERA to 4.87 through 10 starts. The sophomore is one of just two Golden Eagles to make 10 starts this season. Honea has 48 strikeouts through 44.1 innings of work and has allowed batters to hit just .288. This marked the first time Honea received OVC honors.

Hudson hit .636 (7-for-11) with a run scored, double, three RBI, two stolen bases, a .727 slugging percentage and a .692 on-base percentage in three games against league-leader Belmont last weekend. The senior had a hit in seven consecutive plate appearances helping the Governors win the final two games of the series. He was 1-for-4 with a RBI and stolen base in the opener, 4-for-4 with a double in Saturday's game and 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI in the finale. Hudson currently ranks first in the OVC in doubles (16), second in hits (56) and stolen bases (15) and eighth in batting (.352).

Borens tossed his first collegiate complete game on Sunday as Eastern Illinois topped Southeast Missouri 13-3 to capture the series by a 2-1 margin. The sophomore allowed just four hits and one earned run through 8.1 innings of work before his defense committed two errors in the final inning which led to three additional hits and two unearned runs. For the game he struck out seven and walked only one batter.
