COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tennessee Tech baseball team welcomes former Ohio Valley Conference foe Middle Tennessee Tuesday to kickoff seven-game homestand.
The first pitch is set for Tuesday at 6 p.m.
This will be the 170th meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Blue Raiders, with MTSU leading the all-time series with a record of 106-63-1. Earlier this season, Middle Tennessee handed Tech a 3-1 loss in Murfreesboro. Garrett Baugh threw six solid innings, while giving up just one run.
The Golden Eagles (17-22, 7-8 OVC) enter the week on the heels of a 2-2 showing last week, including a 1-2 mark against Southeast Missouri. TTU had five starters bat at least .313 last week, including Dylan Bosheers, who posted six hits in 14 at bats.
Chad Hayes led the Tech offense with seven RBIs, three of which came off a three-run shot in TTU's 8-3 win over SEMO. Zach Stephens added another home run to his season total and now has 15 home runs and 42 RBIs on the season.
MTSU (23-18, 10-8 Sun Belt) lost two of its last three games against Louisiana Monroe, including a 13-7 seven loss in its most recent game. The Blue Raiders are 2-1 against OVC opponents this season, including a 1-1 mark against Austin Peay.
Trent Miller has been the main sparkplug for the MTSU offense this season as he has posted a team-high 10 home runs and 36 RBIs, while batting .350. Johnny Thomas has notched a team-high 15 doubles and has driven in 28 runs as well.
Tuesday is also Student-Athlete Appreciation Day. Members from all of TTU's athletic teams are invited to the home baseball and softball games and will be treated to a cookout courtesy of Tech athletics.
