COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech's Purple Pride Caravans
were bigger than ever last year, and this summer the stops around
the region promise to continue to grow in popularity.
The Purple Pride Caravans will be back on the road and rolling in July and August, with 10 stops planned in communities around the region in anticipation of the upcoming sports season. Fans are invited to attend and participate, and every Caravan is free.
Fans who visit the Purple Pride Caravans will have the opportunity to meet and talk with several Tennessee Tech head coaches, and are invited to enjoy hot dogs and soft drinks and sign up for a grand prize drawing.
Each event will feature a tailgating atmosphere with coaches, cheerleaders and Tech mascot Awesome Eagle, and one lucky fan will win a trip for two with the Golden Eagles to their Sept. 7 game at the University of Wisconsin.
Sponsored by 98.5 KISS FM, Pepsi and TTUsports.com, each Purple
Pride Caravan event will last 98 minutes, beginning at 5 p.m. and
running until 6:38 p.m.
The first stop on the Purple Pride Caravan schedule will be at the Wal-Mart store in Jamestown on Tuesday, July 9. Eight of the stops will be at area Wal-Mart stores, with two stops planned at IGA stores in Cookeville and Livingston.
As a special feature, 98.5 KISS FM (the home of Golden Eagle football broadcasts) will be registering people at each of the stops. One grand prize winner will receive a TTU/Wisconsin Flyaway Trip for two, including air travel, hotel accommodations, tickets to the game and meals.
No winners will be selected below the age of 18. Winner may not be a high school student-athlete or immediate family member of an athlete without jeopardizing collegiate eligibility at an NCAA institution. Complete rules for the contest can be found at the link below and also are posted on the Kissfm985.com website.
Following its initial stop in Jamestown, the Purple Pride Caravan will also visit Smithville, Cookeville, Carthage, Sparta, Livingston, McMinnville, Crossville and Cookeville before wrapping up at the Algood Wal-Mart on Aug. 27, just two days before the Golden Eagle season opener in Tucker Stadium on Aug. 29 against Cumberland.
