COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Dylan Vazzano, a graduate of Syracuse University and native of Los Angeles, has joined the Sports Information staff at Tennessee Tech University as a Sports Information Coordinator.  Vazzano comes to Tech after spending the last two years as Sports Information Director and lead play-by-play broadcaster at Menlo College, an NAIA school in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Vazzano, 24, will handle a variety of duties for Golden Eagle Athletics, including broadcasting the audio portion of webstreams of soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball games on the OVC Digital Network. He will serve as sidelines reporter during football broadcasts on the Golden Eagle Sports Network, and provide play-by-play for selected basketball games.

In addition, he will serve as the primary contact for the TTU soccer and softball teams, and work with every other Golden Eagle team including website updates and stories, videos on YouTube, and producing content for several publications.

While at Menlo, Vazzano controlled all communications and media relations aspects for the department’s 14 sports, including developing and securing feature stories that appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News, and Oakland Tribune, all firsts in Menlo Athletics.  As a broadcaster, he provided play-by-play for football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, softball, men’s wrestling, and served as the “voice” of eight different regional and national tournaments.

Vazzano has also spent the last four summers as lead play-by-play broadcaster for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball League, the top summer collegiate baseball league in the country.  This past summer, he broadcast the Cape League All-Star Game on National Public Radio and provided color commentary for the Cape’s “Sunday Night Baseball” on WEEI 96.3 FM, flagship station of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and New England Patriots.  Vazzano also served as the first ever host of Hyannis’ postgame studio show, “Hawk Talk,” and throughout his time at Menlo and the Cape League, he has conducted over 130 on-air interviews with players and coaches.

Vazzano graduated Syracuse University in 2010, earning a degree in Writing and Rhetoric.

He joins a TTU sports information staff that incudes Director Rob Schabert, Video Productions Coordinator Matt Wagner, and Coordinators Mike Lehman and Jocelyn VerVelde.
