SPARTA, Tenn. – The Wal-Mart in Sparta played host to the latest Purple Pride Caravan and Tech fans from all-around White County sported their purple and gold in honor of Golden Eagle Athletics. Magic 98.5 hosted the event, and fans were given the opportunity to meet with head coaches Daniel Brizard (women's soccer) Polk Brown (golf), Steve Payne (men's basketball), and Jim Davis (women's basketball) and register for prizes.
Sparta was the sixth stop on the caravan’s tour, and Tech supporters were treated to games, free hotdogs and Pepsi products. The tailgate gave three lucky fans prizes, with one fan earning a chance to win a trip for two with the Golden Eagle football team to its game Sept. 15 at the University of Oregon.
Following its stop in Sparta, the Purple Pride Caravan will wrap up its summer tour with two more stops before the Golden Eagle football team's season opener in Tucker Stadium on Aug. 30. The Purple Pride Caravan will visit Cookeville on August 23, before its final stop at the Algood Wal-Mart on Aug. 28, just two days before football season begins.
