COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Fans hoping to submit nominations for the Tennessee Tech Sports Hall of Fame have just over a month before the deadline. To be considered for 2013 induction, nominations must be submitted by June 30 including all supporting material. No additional material will be accepted after the deadline.
"Our Sports Hall of Fame currently includes more than 160 people, and every year the committee looks through a long list of qualified nominees," said Mark Wilson, Director of Athletics. "Many of those nominations come from family members, friends, alumni or fans who know of candidates who are worthy of consideration but may not yet be nominated."
A couple of key criteria for former student-athletes to be inducted into the Hall of Fame require that a period of 10 years must have passed since the S-A completed his/her eligibility, and they must have received an undergraduate degree.
Each nomination remains active for a period of three years. The committee will meet later in the summer to select the 2013 nominees who will be inducted during the annual Hall of Fame Dinner during Homecoming weekend.
This year's dinner is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 25.
